AWH Heart of Christmas Week 1

AWH Heart of Christmas Week 1

The Art With Heart, Heart of Christmas team are back for 2024 and ready to inspire you for the next seventeen weeks with our Heart of Christmas blog hop!

It’s been so cold here recently I decided to embrace the winter vibes and create a snowy Christmas card to kick off our Heart of Christmas blog hop for 2024.

As demonstrators we get to preorder from the Christmas Catty (September – December Catalogue) tomorrow morning, but in the meantime we have some amazing new online exclusives, Annual Catalogue products and carryover items to play with until the new products arrive.

I’m using the online exclusive, Greetings of the Season Bundle.

The Annual Catalogue bundle, Country Birdhouse.

The carry over Forever Forest dies.

And these carry over items, Grove dies and the Grassy Grove stamp set.

My colour combination is Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Basic White and Basic Black. The embossed background is created with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder. This will be getting a lot of use for my Christmas cards.

The door on the house is created using one of the dies from the new Greetings of the Season bundle with the “For You” sentiment white heat embossed. I popped an adhesive snowflake on the Crumb Cake window and added a tiny bow of Black Bakers twine.

My wooden cabin in the snow has been die cut using the Country Birdhouse dies from the Country Woods DSP – there are so many wonderful wood patterns in this DSP pack!

The trees and the deer are from the Grassy Grove stamp set and Grove dies.

Inside the card I’ve used the largest sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Sharon Davern – I can’t wait to see what Sharon has made this week!

If the next button link is not working or you’d like to see the entire list of participants go to Sharon Davern’s blog.

The AWH tea will be back on Wednesday night, showcasing Cajun Craze, or you can enjoy some more Heart of Christmas inspiration next Monday night.

I hope you can join us then!

Stampin’ Up! Boho Blue Pets & More Birthday Card

Stampin’ Up! Boho Blue Pets & More Birthday Card

Welcome to week thirteen of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

This week we’re featuring Boho Blue, a gorgeous soft blue that is one of the 2023–2025 In Colors.

We have so many birthdays on both sides of our family in July so surprise, surprise, I’ve made another birthday card this week!

This fancy fold card is for my niece who turned 8 earlier in July however as she has been overseas we will be catching up for her birthday later in July.

Mimi recently told me her favourite colour has changed from purple to blue – luckily I discovered this before I made her card!

I love making cards that move for children, which is why I went searching for a shutter card tutorial. I discovered a video tutorial for an easy double shutter card by a paper crafter called Sam Callott (Mixed Up Craft) – here is her video if you’d like to watch her tutorial.

I’ve used the new Birch folder to emboss the Boho Blue cardstock barn doors and my double shutter card opens to reveal a dog. My dog’s name is Superman and Mimi adores him. In fact, I’m pretty sure he is her favourite cousin!

The grass is made from Old Olive cardstock that has been die cut using the grass dies from the Beach Days dies. The dog is from Pets & More stamp set, which is a reversible stamp set. I’ve stamped the reverse side of the stamp in Pecan Pie stamped off once and the front of the dog stamp is stamped in full strength Pecan Pie. The dog bowl is also stamped in Pecan Pie and fussy cut.

After photographing the card I realised one of Superman’s hairs is on the card. How perfectly apt!

The doghouse is made from the Country Birdhouse die with the base chopped off. The flowers are also from the Country Birdhouse dies and I created the stems using the narrow roof edging die from the same set. The thicker roof die has been used for the top of the dog house.

These bones and the dog ball from the Pets & More stamp set have been fussy cut.

I used a circle punch to create finger pulls and pull tabs.

The card sits on a 5 x 7 inch card base which I will stamp and decorate inside too before I give Mimi her birthday card next weekend.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Andrea Sargent – I can’t wait to see what Andrea has made this week!

Country Woods Suite Mother’s Day Card

Country Woods Suite Mother’s Day Card

The Country Woods Suite is hands down my favourite suite in the new catalogue so it was a no brainer to use it to make a Mother’s Day card for my mum.

However, as Mum reads my blog I couldn’t post this card until after we had our Mother’s Day get together at my place last night!

I’ve used the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, the Country Lace Designer Series Paper, the Country Birdhouse Dies and the Country Flowers Dies to create a sweet country collage scene of a bunch of flowers sitting on the edge of a wooden table.

I thought the Smoky Slate striped pattern from the Country Lace Designer Series Paper looked like wallpaper and the dark Early Espresso wood pattern from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper would be perfect for the table. So this stunning DSP was the starting point for my design.

Mum loves blues, especially Misty Moonlight, so I cut the jug that holds the flowers from another DSP pattern in the Country Lace. I also cut a cute little teapot with a lid and then decided not to use the teapot on this card – I’ll save it for another card.

The sweet little Petal Pink flowers are also die cut from the Country Lace Designer Series Paper using Country Flowers Dies. To make the green leaves I randomly coloured Basic White cardstock using Mossy Meadow Stampin Blends in light and dark before die cutting them out.

The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment comes from the Sentimental Rose Kit, stamped in Early Espresso onto another wood DSP design in the Country Woods DSP.

I used two of the roof dies from the Country Birdhouse dies to create a picture frame for the sentiment. And the hanging bow die from the Country Birdhouse dies to add a bow of ribbon to the vase.

Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins add the final touch of bling!

I’ll be back on Wednesday night with the AWH Colour Creations team showcasing one of the new 2024 -26 In Colours, Pretty in Pink. I hope you can join me then.
