Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 55 Purple Posy

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 55 Purple Posy

Welcome to the final week of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop.

We have blogged every Stampin Up colour over 55 weeks in our Colour Creations Blog Hop and our final colour is another 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colour: Purple Posy

My inspiration for my card today came from my garden and one of my favourite plants, called Geisha girl. It has beautiful foliage all year round, orange berries and purple flowers.

Here’s a photo of my card in front of the plant.

The colour of these flowers gradiates from a deep purple on the outside, through to a pale purple on the inside, just like the stunning new 3/8″ (1 cm) Tricolor Ribbon on my card. The stripes are Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Purple Posy, all on one craft ribbon.

To create my Geisha Girl flower on my card I stamped Purple Posy ink onto Purple Posy card stock using the Pop of Petals stamp set and then punched out the stamped images with my four-petal flower punch.

The flower is made by layering two flowers together and adhering with a glue dot.

Silver and purple are such a classic colour combination so I stamped my silver foil card base with Smokey Slate ink, using other stamps from the Pop of Petals stamp set.

There are no sentiments in the Pop of Petal stamp set so I stamped the “A Little Note” stamp from the Butterfly Gala Stamp set before die cutting it withe the stitched rectangle die.

The gorgeous DSP behind the sentiment is from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper.

Thank you so much for joining us for the past 55 weeks on the Art With Heart Colour Creations blog hop.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 54 Seaside Spray

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 54 Seaside Spray

Welcome to week 54 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have extended our one year Colour Creations Blog Hop for another 5 weeks to introduce the 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colours.

This week’s colour is called Seaside Spray and it’s a beautiful pale cornflower blue.

I’m really in my happy place with any shade of blue, which is probably why I love hydrangeas so much. And one of the new stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 catalogue – Beautiful Friendship – was top of my wish list because of its hydrangea stamp.

Seaside Spray is such a stunning soft colour I decided to keep the colour palette for my card this week to just 4 colours: Seaside Spray, Old Olive, Whisper White and Silver Foil.

The Silver foil edged notecards with matching envelopes make card making a breeze – there’s no need to add a layer, you can just stamp directly onto a card as I have done here.

To add further colour variation I stamped off both the Old Olive Ink and the Seaside Spray Ink.

A few silver facetted gems, a bow of silver thread and the sentiment punched out with the Everyday Label Punch before adhering with sone dimensionals completes the card.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 53 Terracotta Tile

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 53 Terracotta Tile

Welcome to week 53 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have extended our one year Colour Creations Blog Hop for another 5 weeks to introduce the 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colours.

This week’s colour is called Terracotta Tile – and it’s a colour that looks exactly like you’d expect!

At first I wasn’t sure what colours to use with Terracotta Tile but I’m really happy with this colour combination.

I really don’t know why this happens, but whenever I’m making a card using a colour I find tricky to work with, I often end up making more than one card. Here’s my first card.

Isn’t the pattern on the vases just gorgeous? I used my varied vases builder punch to punch the vases out from the new In Colour Designer Series Paper. It’s pictured here in Rococo Rose but the pack includes all 5 In Colours.

The Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins in Grapefruit Grove add a touch of bling to the card.

I wanted to try another colour combination for my second card. I think this colour combination makes Terracotta Tile look pinker.

Another favourite stamp set here…Rooted In Nature.

This really is simple stamping at it’s best and a great card for a beginner to try.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 52 Pretty Peacock

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 52 Pretty Peacock

Welcome to week 51 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have extended our one year Colour Creations Blog Hop for another 5 weeks to introduce the 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colours.

This week’s colour is a new teal coloured greeny blue called Pretty Peacock. Depending on the light and the other colours it is used with it can look either green or blue.

My inspiration this week was this patterned quilt cover I recently purchased from IKEA.

I live in a house full of men (even my dog is male!) so I decided to add a touch of pink to my multipurpose craft room/study/spare bedroom.

In real life, my Pretty Peacock cardstock is very close to the colour of my quilt but in the photos, it looks a lot greener.

I’ve used another gorgeous new in colour – Rococo Rose – to make my card base and then I’ve stamped Tropical Chic stamps in Pretty Peacock ink onto Pretty Peacock cardstock to reflect the watermark background effect on the quilt.

The flowers, bird land other leaves are all stamped using the new Free as a Bird stamp set.

I’ve stamped these images with Basic Black, Shaded Spruce and Pretty Peacock ink and then used watercolour pencils and my blender pens to colour in before fussy cutting my images out.

On the inside, a stamped rectangle of Whisper White provides a space to write a message.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 51 Rococo Rose

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 51 Rococo Rose

Welcome to week 51 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We have extended our one year Colour Creations Blog Hop for another 5 weeks to introduce the 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colours.

This week’s colour is a new shade of pink called Rococo Rose. This is the brand new designer series paper for the 2019-21 Stampin’ Up! in colours.

I’ve combined Rococo Rose with Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black and Whisper White.

If you take a close look at my card it looks like I have also used a lighter pink and a lighter green but I have simply stamped off the Rococo Rose and the Pear Pizzazz.

I’ve used the gorgeous Abstract Impressions stamp set – I’m so glad this set carried over to the new catalogue because it is one of those stamp sets that works well with any colour.

There are no punches or dies used on this card so it really is #simplestamping.

I’ve used my black marker pen to hand doodle over the top of my stamped images. This is such a simple technique and I really love the extra detail and dimension this gives to my card.

To finish my card off I mounted the stamped image onto Basic Black before adhering to the Rococo Rose card.

On the inside, a stamped square of Whisper White provides a space to write a message.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 32 Night of Navy

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 32 Night of Navy

Welcome to week 32 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop!

Our colour this week is one of my very favourite neutrals: Night of Navy.

For my card today I’ve made my own DSP using a brand new stamp set called Bloom by Bloom. I used this stamp set last week too for Mossy Meadow and I love how different this looks stamped in different colours.

I’ve also used Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Blueberry Bushel…and, of course, the gorgeous new stitched rectangle framelits.

The gorgeous balmy blue ribbon is a free SALE-a-bration item you can choose when you spend $90 or more in any one order placed before March 31. The free pack includes 4 other colours, it’s such gorgeous ribbon.

I love Night of Navy so much I actually made 2 cards today. My second card uses the darling Little Elephan bundle.

I just used a touch of navy on this card…it’s such a great neutral it works with virtually any colour!

My elephant card is an expamle of #simplestamping (a card made with just ink and paper and maybe a punch). The #simplestamping theme for January is hearts/love and what a gorgoeus sentiment this is.

Now that I’ve made two cards, I’m not sure which one I prefer. Either way, I know they’ll both get put to good use.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 27 Mango Melody

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 27 Mango Melody

Welcome to week 27 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop!

Our colour this week is one of the Bright Family Colours: Mango Melody.

For my card, I’ve used a beautiful stamp set that works with just about any colour and is perfect for #simplestamping: Abstract Impressions.

I made this card for a very special friend of mine who is feeling a bit lost and bit left out at the moment. She loves flowers and she loves orange, so I’m hoping this card will lift her spirits!

I’m loving making these cards that get right back to basics and only use paper, ink, stamps…and okay, some linen thread, but I just love my linen thread and I really really can’t seem to make a card without it these days!

For my colour scheme, I’ve paired mango melody with granny apple green and stamped both colours off. This is a simple technique that even the beginner stamper can easily do and it immediately doubles your available range of colours!

There is one element of my card that is not beginner…I’ve stamped the sentiment on the front of the card using Versamark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I love white heat embossing on coloured cardstock.

On the inside of the card, I’ve added the sentiment (which is just perfect for what I wanted to say) by stamping and die cutting it (with the stitched shapes framelits) on a separate piece of cardstock and then gluing it in.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 26 Lovely Lipstick

Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Week 26 Lovely Lipstick

Welcome to week 26 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop!

Our colour this week is one of the 2018-20 In Colours: Lovely Lipstick. This is such a lovely rich colour.

I’ve made three cards for this colour to show how the same stamp set can be used for the three levels of crafter:

  • Beginner
  • Casual
  • Avid

The stamp set I’ve used is a FREE set from the upcoming Saleabration Catalogue, called Lasting Lily. This is a dynamic stamp set, giving you a wonderful depth effect and you can choose this set when you spend $180 or more on any product when the catalogue goes live in early January.

My first card is for the beginner crafter, someone who has never stamped before. To make this card you only need the stamp set, ink pads, cardstock, an acrylic block, some adhesive and some ribbon.

The only skills involved are simple stamping and the ability to tie a bow. The lighter pink lily is simply Lovely Lipstick stamped off once.

And here’s the inside, simply stamped as well.

My casual crafter’s card takes it up a notch by fussy cutting the flower, punching out the sentiment with the lovely label punch and adding layers of DSP. I bent my fussy cut lily with my fingers and topped it off with a bow of Mossy Meadow Bakers Twine (in the Festive Farmhouse trio pack).

Here’s the inside.

My avid crafter’s card has more intricate fussy cutting of the lily and its leaves and it uses advanced tools such as the bigshot and the heat tool. The Whisper White cardstock has been embossed with the wood plank embossing folder and then the sentiment has been stamped in Versmark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Linen thread, a strip of DSP and a galvanized button finish off the bunch of lilies.

But it’s on the inside that this card really steps up…it’s a pop-up card. Although I must say this technique only involves cutting two slits and folding the cardstock of the pop-up section in the opposite direction so it really would be easily doable for any level of crafter.

Here are all 3 cards, using the same stamp set for three different levels of crafters.
