Stampin’ Up! Blueberry Bushel Birthday Card

Stampin’ Up! Blueberry Bushel Birthday Card

Welcome to week twelve of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

This week we’re featuring Blueberry Bushel, a rich and clear deep blue from the Regals family. And as it my dad’s birthday this weekend I’ve made him a Blueberry Bushel birthday card.

My dad loves all things astronomical so I decided to give the northern lights technique a go. This is the colour combination I chose, although if you look at photos of the northern lights you’ll see that you can really use any combination of colours.

The northern lights technique is fun and easy to do. All you need is blending brushes, ink and cardstock.

Start from the bottom of the card and apply the ink in upward strokes working in order from the lightest colour to the darkest colour. Then go back over each colour to add depth and blend. I added the Blueberry Bushel last.

I used two of the tree stamps from the Forever Forest Stamp set (stamped in Memento ink) to create the forest silhouette at the base of the card.

I stamped the moon and stars image from the same stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in white.

The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set, also stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white. I chose this sentiment as it was long and narrow and I didn’t want to cover up any of the gorgeous northern lights.

This sentiment from the Gone Fishing stamp set was the perfect sentiment to use on the inside of my dad’s birthday card!

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Rachel Woollard – I can’t wait to see what Rachel has made this week!

Gorgeous Grape Forever Forest Watercoloured Christmas Card

Gorgeous Grape Forever Forest Watercoloured Christmas Card

Welcome to week twenty six of our Art With Heart 2023-24 Colour Creations blog hop!

This week we are showcasing Gorgeous Grape, a vibrant purple colour that is now in the regals family, however I still consider it to be a bright! I’ve made a watercolour Christmas card that pairs Gorgeous Grape with Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky.

Watercolor backgrounds are so easy to make and even though they come out differently every time you really can’t make a mistake with watercolour. Well, that’s what I like to tell myself, anyway.

Adhere a torn strip of Stampin’ Up masking paper to the bottom section of a sheet of Fluid 100 watercolour paper and then use the widest water painter brush to cover the watercolour paper with water.

Once the paper is all wet, colour it in with Gorgeous Grape, Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky from top to bottom. Use a heat tool to dry the water coloured background.

Stamp trees from the Forever Forest stamp set in Starry Sky and splatter some Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink Refill (diluted with water) before carefully removing the masking paper to reveal the snowy landscape.

The ‘joy & peace’ sentiment is from the Night Divine stamp set and the moon and star images are from The Forever Forest stamp set, both stamped in Starry Sky.

Tiny white snowflakes from the Adhesive-Backed Snowflake Assortment complete the front of the card.

I stamped another tree on the left in Starry Sky once I trimmed the card front to fit on the card base – I forgot the watercolour paper is a lot wider than our metric card bases.

The Starry Sky cardstock layer behind the water coloured card front really makes the Gorgeous Grape water coloured section of the sky stand out.

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Rachel Palmieri – I can’t wait to see what Rachel has made this week!

Forever Forest Crumb Cake Father’s Day Card

Forever Forest Crumb Cake Father’s Day Card

Welcome to week nineteen of our Art With Heart 2023-24 Colour Creations blog hop! This week we are using one of my most used and absolute favourite colours: Crumb Cake!

Unfortunately, I just didn’t have the time to really do this colour justice. I had so many ideas in my head and wanted to make several cards, however I only had time to make a Father’s Day card for my dad…and I had to make it in record time!

This style of card is called a side step card and I’ve used a brand new bundle from the September – December Mini Catalogue.

The Forever Forest bundle is just perfect for masculine cards, sympathy card, nature cards and Christmas cards.

A side step card is a great card for scenes, as the side steps add instant dimension and depth to the scene.

Normally, the mountains would be in the background, however I needed to have the trio of stamped and die cut trees at the back so they didn’t cover the other elements. I’ve used a mixture of stampining, sponging and die cutting to create all the trees, boulders and mountains

The colour combination for this card is drawn from the colours in this sheet of One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper. Crumb Cake, Pebbled Path, Basic White and Mossy Meadow also thrown into the mix.

The same sheet of One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper also dresses up the envelope flap.

And, yes, the card folds flat to fit into a standard C6 envelope.

The Father’s Day sentiment is from the He’s All That Stamp Set.
