Welcome to week thirty-five of our Art With Heart 2023-24 Colour Creations blog hop!
Our colour this week is Night of Navy, one of my favourite colours. This Neutral colour works with most other colours and tonight I’ve paired it with Bubble Bath, Basic White and Misty Moonlight, drawing colour inspiration from the colours in the the Delightfully Eclectic 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Paper.
My two sympathy cards use products from the brand new January–April 2024 Mini Catalogue and the Sale-A-Bration catalogue: the Softly Sophisticated bundle (stamps and embossing folder) and the Everyday Details Dies.
The Softly Sophisticated bundle is a Sale-a-bration item that includes a stamp set and an embossing folder. You can earn it for FREE when you place any order over $180AUD.
I’ve CASED my cards from a fancy fold created by Susan Campfield, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator based in the USA. The fancy fold is called “The Marvelous Fun Fold Card”. You can watch her video on how to make the M fold here.
I’ve altered Susan’s measurements to create a slightly different metric template that allows two card bases to be cut from one sheet of A4 cardstock.
Cut the A4 cardstock in half lengthways at 10.5cm to create two card bases. For each card base, score along the long side of the card base at 6.5, 7, 14, 15, 22, 22.5 and then cut the excess off at 29 cm. Then you fold along these lines to form an M shape.
Decorate with Embossed cardstock panels and DSP panels before adhering a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to the middle 1cm wide panel – this is to adhere the centre image and make the fancy fold mechanism work.
I’ve stamped the centre image in Misty Moonlight and Bubble Bath, using two stamps from the Softly Sophisticated bundle. The image is layered on circle dies from the new Everyday Details dies, as well as a middle circle cut from Night of Navy cardstock using the Stylish Shapes dies.
The sentiments on the inner side flaps are die cut using the Everyday Details dies, shortened where necessary.
The side flaps tuck in in behind this centre floral image to close the card. You can write your message on Basic White cardstock panels adhered to the back of the card.
For the second card, the embossed panels are placed inside the card, with the DSP on the front side flaps.
The centre image is stamped in Misty Moonlight and Bubble Bath, using two stamps from the Softly Sophisticated bundle, layered on rectangle dies from the new Everyday Details dies
This is such a cool fancy fold – here’s a short video to show how the card opens and closes.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Kate Morgan – I can’t wait to see what Kate has made this week!
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants below.
I’ve been missing in action the past month, but I was determined to join in the hop this week as it is the very last Heart of Christmas hop for the year. Sharon has done an amazing job hosting our Christmas blog. Thank you Sharon!
After attempting to make a fancy fold that did not work at all, here is super quick and easy Christmas card instead!
The O Holy Night Designer Series Paper forms the perfect background for this simple nativity scene. I’ve paired it with Silver Adhesive-backed Glimmer Paper, Night of Navy card stock and Basic White card stock.
I love the amount of detail in this nativity die from the Night Divine dies.
The Silver Adhesive-backed Glimmer Paper makes working with these detailed dies a breeze – there is no need to muck around with glue.
The glimmery stars in the sky are die cut using the dies from the Stars at Night Hybrid Embossing Folder set.
If you have a pack of the O Holy Night Designer Series Paper and a pack of the Silver Adhesive-backed Glimmer Paper (online only) this design would be ideal for mass production of Christmas cards.
A few extra die cut stars complete the inside of the card.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Judy May. I can’t wait to see what Judy has made this week.
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants on Sharon Davern’s blog.
I’ve used the adorable The Snowman Magic Bundle for today’s card. It includes the Snowman Magic Stamp Set and the Snowman Dies.
And here’s my little snowman in his wintery scene with his friend the Balmy Blue bird sitting at the top of the tree like a Christmas star!
The background snow effect is created using a layer of the Snowflake 12″ x 12″ Specialty Vellum – this sheet is flocked, while some of the other vellum sheets in the pack are foiled.
The sentiment comes from the Penguin Place Stamp Set – it works so well with the Snowman Magic Stamp Set too.
I couldn’t resist adding a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels to my card for some extra sparkle.
Welcome to week eight of our 2020-2021 Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase.

Week 8 – Calypso Coral
Calypso Coral is in the subtles family but as the brightest of the subtles it really holds its own when combined with any of the brights, the regals or the neutrals – Calypso Coral really is a versatile colour. So when I saw a card created by Maria Cowans (a Stampin’ Up! demo located in the UK) I decided to create a card like hers, inspired by the Stampin’ Up! logo and using the same stunning colour combination.
Maria’s beautiful card is pictured below beside the Stampin’ Up! folder that inspired her design.
Calypso Coral looks incredible when paired with these other vibrant colours: Night of Navy, Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry and Whisper White.
Maria used the brand new “All Things Fabulous” bundle to recreate the Stampin’ Up! floral design. This is a fabulous bundle if you enjoy two step stamping – it reminds me of “Jar of Love” which is one of my all time favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp sets.
Would you believe I had just ordered the “All Things Fabulous” bundle but it hadn’t arrived yet? So I decided to make a quite different card, one that uses the same colours in the Stampin’ Up! folder, but made with the floral stamps in the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set instead.
This card was very quick and easy to make. I stamped the large magnolia image and two of the smaller buds onto Watercolour paper using Black StazOn ink.
The Good Morning Magnolia Stamp is a double stamp set and it has co-ordinating Magnolia Memory dies which I used to cut out my flowers.
I used my new Water Painters to colour in my magnolias with Night of Navy, the buds with Calypso Coral, the leaves with Old Olive and the centre of the main flower with Crushed Curry.
Water colouring with ink pads is so easy to do. You simply tap an acrylic block onto the surface of your ink pad to pick up the colour and then lift the ink off your block with your water painters.
Once my water coloured flowers were dry I cut the flowers away from the leaves with my paper snips and trimmed closer to the stamp outline before rearranged the elements onto a Whisper White panel. I adhered this to a Night of Navy card base, which is simply a sheet of A4 card stock cut in half and then folded in half.
The “Thanks” sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy and comes from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set as well.
As soon as I had finished this card my “All Things Fabulous” bundle arrived in the post! So I decided to make a second card, this time more closely CASED on Maria’s one.
I used the “Wishing you all things fabulous” sentiment from the All Things Fabulous stamp set – I really love sentiments that have two different fonts on them, like this one.
This was such a quick card to make – it took me less than 5 minutes and the design evolved as I went. You really can’t go wrong with a floral stamp set like this.
For several of the Night of Navy and Calypso Coral flowers I stamped off the ink once before stamping the larger part of the flower and then stamped the ink at full strength for the second stamp that forms the middle of the flower.
I’m not sure which card I prefer. But I do think that this Calypso Coral colour combination really works well whether you use it for water colouring or for two set stamping and stamping off.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Art With Heart team have created with Calypso Coral today. Click on the links below to see what they’ve made.
Next Tuesday we’ll be showcasing one of the Regal family: Cherry Cobbler. We hope you can join us all then.
