Hello fellow crafters, it’s time for some weekly “Heart of Christmas” Christmas card inspiration with the Art with Heart Team.
This week I decided to ink up a set from the new holiday catalogue called Wishes All Aglow.
I really love this stamp set because it’s playful and fun and I love stamps with images of Christmas lights and really any stamps with lights in general.
I took my inspiration from the holiday catalogue and here’s what they did with this set.
For my first card I decided to CASE the fussy cut “ho ho ho” but keep my card to a tighter colour scheme of very vanilla, white and gold. I also decorated a matching envelope to go with the card. The fussy cut stamp is mounted on a gold foil snowflake, which in turn is mounted on some of the Year of Cheer DSP.
For my second card I kept to the gold vanilla and white theme but inked up different stamps from this set. I also used some of the Year of cheer washi tape and again decorated a matching envelope.
Finally I inked up the jingle stamp from the set and instead of making another card I decided to make a quick and easy treat bag to go with the cards, using the gold striped treat bags. I also used the leftover part of my foil snowflake from the card I made last week to decorate the bag. These foil snowflakes are so easy to cut up to use in different ways.
I used versamark ink, gold embossing power and my heat tool to achieve the gold stamped images and I love how the gold ties in the Wishes All Aglow Set with the beautiful products from the Year of Cheer suite.
To see the lovely projects the other members of the team have made this week hop back to Tina Gillespie’s blog.

The Art with Heart Team ladies are selecting their favourite colour combinations to share with you tonight. Choosing the right colour scheme can be essential to your design and with Stampin’ Up!’s stunning collection, there are 50 colours to choose from. There’s sure to be some combinations that work really well together and you can take inspiration from.
Now sit back and enjoy some time out of your day to cruise through our blog hop and soak up some colour explosion eye candy!
My Favourite Colour Combination
Just take a look at the beautiful colours we have to chose from. Choosing just one or two of these gorgeous colours feels like choosing a favourite child…I mean it’s just not right, is it!
When I tried to decide what my favourite colour combination was I realised I really love monochrome cards that use just 2 colours together, usually a neutral colour (such as whisper white, very vanilla, crumb cake, smoky slate, basic black or one of the metallic papers) with one other colour. I mainly use a lot of crumb cake and whisper white (and I really do love using these 2 colours together on their own) but today I’ve decided to make a card that uses another of my all time favourite colour combinations: navy and white.
Navy and white always looks classic, crisp, cool, clean and elegant. It is a timeless colour combination that works well for both male and female cards and I’ve used it today to make a Christmas card with the new Carols of Christmas bundle.
You can order the “Carols for Christmas” bundle from the 1st August, one month ahead of the Holiday catalogue release date…or you can order it right now if you are a demonstrator or decide to join up as a demonstrator.
The beautiful background DSP in this card is from a non-christmas set, Naturally Eclectic, but it works perfectly with this Christmas card and looks to me like gently falling snow. The frame is cut using card builder framelits that are part of the Carols of Christmas bundle.
The sentiment is from “Oh, What Fun” stamp set and stamped onto whisper white and night of navy card stock, then cut out using the oval stitched shape framelits. The die cut trees and reindeer fitted perfectly around the curve of the stitched shape oval and I layered the deer on top of the trees with Stampin’ dimensionals to provide depth and contrast.
This gorgeous Night of Navy crinkled seam binding ribbon makes the softest bows…here I layered it to the card on top of a bow made out of mini sequin trim in sliver, topped with a rhinestone basic jewel.
For Christmas I’d like to also make a version of this card using some of my other favourite colour combinations, such as real red and whisper white, soft sky and whisper white, and of course my other very favourite colour combination…crumb cake, whisper white and gold or copper foil paper!
Thanks for stopping by.
I hope you has as much fun reading my blog as I had creating it.

Today I am participating in a blog hop along with the super talented ladies in the Art With Heart Team.
We thought it would be fun to share some Easter projects, seeing as Easter is only about 3 weeks away!
Saleabration is a great time to join or place a $90 order to get extra free items – ask me how!
Blog Hops are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post is a link to the next one. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links. Now let’s get started!
‘Punch and Framelit Art’ Easter Bunny
The Stitched Shape Framelits are one of the most versatile products I have ever bought from Stampin’ Up!
I love how the set includes 4 different sizes of 3 different shapes and they work with so many sentiments, stamp sets…and even on their own.
But (until now) I’d never thought of using them in punch art.
Sweet Sugarplum Stitched Rabbit
For my first Easter card I decided to give my rabbit Sweet Sugarplum ears to match the beautiful background paper from the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.
Can you guess which punch I used for her ears?
I’ll give you a hint…I also used the same punch to make her crunchy carrot.
Believe it or not, it’s the Festive Flower Builder punch!
Both the inside of her ears and the carrot were made out of the long, moustache shaped piece of the punch. For the ears, I cut that piece in half, and for the carrot I punched it in Calypso Coral cardstock and then simply folded it over.
The little green carrot top is made from the cross piece of that punch as well–I punched it out in Old Olive card stock and simply folded it in half on an angle.
Here’s a close-up to show you how I also curved her ears forward to add even more dimmension
Her body and ears are made from Tip Top Taupe card stock and her nose is cut from the Owl builder punch.
The eyes are stamped with another incredibly versatile set, Cookie-Cutter Christmas. When stamping the eyes I just made sure I only inked up the the eyes and not the nose, because I wanted to use the cute little heart piece from the Owl Builder punch for her nose.
And don’t you just love her whiskers, made with the Stamping’ Up! Linen Thread?
Mint Macaron Stitched Rabbit
Well, I had so much fun making my sweet sugarplum rabbit I decided to make her a friend.
This time I used a different sheet of paper from the Succulent Garden Designer as the background paper and then dies and stamps from The Oh So Succulent Bundle to give him the appearance of hiding in the shrubbery.
He looks a little bit shy and a little bit cheeky, doesn’t he?
Mint Macaroon, Old Olive and Tip Top Taupe is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations.
For the sentiment on this card I used one of the free Salebration stamp sets, Any Occasion. It actually fits perfectly into the Duet Banner Punch, making for a quick and easy sentiment to finish the card off.
Get More Out of Your Craft Supplies
Have you ever tried to use your framelits as punch art?
This was my first attempt and I’m thrilled with the result. I really enjoy discovering another use for what was already an incredibly useful and versatile set.
And as a sewer and quilter I just love how quickly and easily the Stitched Shapes Framelits add texture and give my cards that hand-stitched look.
Next up on our blog hop is the incredibly talented Ros Davidson. I can’t wait to see what she’s created!
