Stampin’ Up! Azure Afternoon Layers of Beauty Card

Stampin’ Up! Azure Afternoon Layers of Beauty Card

Welcome to week seven of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Now that we’ve featured the five new In Colors and the new neutral/core colour, Basic Beige, we are returning to our alphabetical showcasing of the Stampin’ Up! colour range, starting with Azure Afternoon.

Azure Afternoon is in the brights family and this bold aqua blue really makes me happy. For my card this week I’ve combined it with Balmy Blue, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Basic Black and Basic White, such a gorgeous colour combination.

Although Azure Afternoon reminds me of the sea and the sky, I decided to create a blue rose floral birthday card.

Apologies in advice – my photos this week are not the best as I make this card just before giving it to the recipient, so I had to photograph it using inside lights long after the sun had set.

The bundle I used for this card is a brand new favourite of mine, the Layers of Beauty bundle. In addition to a stamp set and matching dies it has a set of layering masks, fabulous for colouring techniques.

The masks are numbered 1–5 and there are notches in the masks to help with perfect alignment. After stamping the large floral spray stamp in Memento Ink, I used blending brushes to add the following colours to the numbered masks.

  1. Balmy Blue – bottom floral mask
  2. Azure Afternoon – middle floral mask
  3. Azure Afternoon – top floral mask
  4. Old Olive – bottom leaf mask
  5. Mossy Meadow – top leaf mask

I stamped and coloured two identical floral sprays using these masks so I had extra flowers to decorate the envelope and add an extra layer to the front of the card.

Using one of the smaller dies, I cut out one of the roses from second floral spray and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the main floral spray.

The embossed layer of the card is created with the Distressed Tile embossing folder. I think its vintage vibe really suits this floral image.

A bow of linen thread attached the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Country Birdhouse stamp set is stamped over two lines so it fits into the cute little tag from the Layers of Beauty dies.

I also die cut an extra tag in Azure Afternoon to add interest and dimension to the card.

Not wanting to waste the rest of my second coloured floral spray I used the largest die and my paper snips to fussy cut a rose to decorate the back of my envelope.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Kate Morgan – I can’t wait to see what Kate has made this week!

Stampin’ Up! Basic Beige City Sights Kit Alternatives Card

Stampin’ Up! Basic Beige City Sights Kit Alternatives Card

Welcome to week six of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today we’re featuring another new colour, Basic Beige, which is a new addition to the Stampin Up! colour range. Basic Beige is a great replacement colour for the now retired Sahara Sand.

I’ve created this graphic to show how Basic Beige compares to the other light brown neutral/core colours in the Stampin Up! colour range.

I’m always on the lookout for masculine cards and I love anything with buildings, so the new City Sights Kit was a kit I just couldn’t resist. I love these water coloured cityscape designs in neutral colours, its masculine charm, and these big city skylines.

As this is an all-inclusive kit it includes so many different elements!
* City Sights Photopolymer Stamp Set
* Pebbled Path Stampin’ Spot
* 8 printed card bases and 8 printed envelopes
* Shaped die cuts, printed sentiments and corrugated cardstock accent pieces
* Copper metallic embellishments
* Mini dimensionals and tear’n’tape
* Acrylic block

My favourite element is this fabulous line drawing stamp set. It reminds me of happy times in New York.

I’ve used this stamp set to make two alternative cards in a monochromatic colour scheme of Basic Beige and Pebble Path.

For card one I drew a line in pencil and stamped along the line to create a city horizon and added a narrow strip of Pebbled Path offcut from the printed sentiment sheet.

I used the dotted grid stamp to create a cloud effect in the sky.

For card two I used the Basic Beige offcuts from the shaped die cuts to frame a single stamped image of the city sky.

The Basic Beige offcut was adhered dusing the mini dimensionals – it gives a really cool effect that you can see in this close-up photo below.

One of the “happy birthday” printed sentiments was cut in half and placed top and bottom of the framed image.

I did also make a couple of the cards as per the instructions in the kit and I love these cards too. Here are the four cards I’ve made so far. I can’t wait to make some other designs using this city skyline stamp set.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Andrea Sargent – I can’t wait to see what Andrea has made this week!

2024-26 In Colors – Summer Splash Card

2024-26 In Colors – Summer Splash Card

Welcome to week five of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today we’re featuring another of the new 2024-26 In Colors: Summer Splash. I’ve created this graphic to show how Summer Splash compares to the current blue/greens in the Stampin Up! colour range.

As I have been time poor this week I’m sharing a quick and simple watercolour card I made at our Stampin’ Up! Onstage conference earlier this year.

This card pairs Summer Splash with Pecan Pie and our new core colour, Basic Beige. I simply stamped the teapot and the plant from the Country Flowers stamp set using Black Stazon Ink onto watercolour paper and used a water painter to lift ink from the ink pads and watercolour the image.

This new Basic Beige colour is a wonderful substitute for Sahara Sand, especially for adding shadows under images to ‘ground’ the images in a scene.

I’ve decorated the inside of the card with a layer of Basic White cardstock, stamped in Black Memento ink. The little flowers are coloured in, this time using the Summer Splash Stampin’ Blends.

TIP – use Stazon Ink when using water in your colouring (e.g. water colouring with water painters and ink) and use Memento Ink when using alcohol markers to colour in (e.g. Stampin’ Blends).

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Di Furniss – I can’t wait to see what Di has made this week!

2024-26 In Colors – Shy Shamrock Card

2024-26 In Colors – Shy Shamrock Card

Welcome to week four of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today we’re featuring another of the new 2024-26 In Colors: Shy Shamrock. I’ve created this graphic to show how Shy Shamrock compares to the current blue/greens in the Stampin Up! colour range.

This week’s card continues my Country Woods Suite theme. My Shy Shamrock card uses the teapot in the Country Flowers stamp set to create a retro 50’s colour scheme Happy Birthday card.

If you’ve never created your own pattern using stamps before I recommend you begin by drawing a grid on your card front with a pencil you can rub out later. Use these grid lines to guide you and always stamp the images in your pattern off the sides of your cardstock.

Did you notice the teapot lids on my teapots? Although there is a teapot lid die in the Country Flowers dies, unfortunately there is no teapot lid stamp in the Country Flowers stamp set.

I watched Susan Wong draw her own teapot lids with a fine line marker in a Crafty Carrot video and I loved this idea so I CASED it! I first stamped the single line stamp and then drew the rest of the lid with my fine line marker.

My 50’s retro colour scheme pairs Shy Shamrock with Poppy Parade, Old Olive and Pool Party, using Stampin’ Blends to colour and shade the teapots.

Basic Rhinestones add a touch of bling. I’ve used Stampin’ Blends! to colour the Rhinestones on the teapots.

I stamped the inside of the card too.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Michele Taylor – I can’t wait to see what Michele has made this week!

2024-26 In Colors – Pretty in Pink Card

2024-26 In Colors – Pretty in Pink Card

Welcome to week three of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today we’re featuring another of the new 2024-26 In Colors: Pretty in Pink. I’ve created this graphic to show how Pretty in Pink compares to the current pinks in the Stampin Up! colour range.

This week’s card continues the Country Woods Suite theme. My Pretty in Pink card uses the Country Flowers bundle to create a flower market scene backed by a layer of Country Lace DSP.

I’ve CASED this card from page 48 of the Annual Catalogue. I loved the white painted tips of the milking stool, created with Pecan Pie light and dark Stampin’ Blends.

My version of this card has a colour scheme theat pairs Pretty in Pink with Granny Apple Green and a mix of neutrals: Basic Black, Basic White, Pecan Pie and Smoky Slate. I’ve also used the Country Lace DSP instead of an embossed cardstock layer.

Stampin’ Blends are the secret to creating dimension on the flower market tin container and the Pretty in Pink teapot. The Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter pulls colour from images I’ve coloured with Stampin’ Blends markers to create additional highlights and dimension.

Blending the Pretty in Pink, Granny Apple Green and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends makes it easy to create colourful pink and green variegated plants too.

The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Country Birdhouse stamp set, die cut out using an online exclusive die: Happy Little Things Dies. I then adhered the die cut sentiment to a strip of Smoky slate cardstock and used my paper snips to trim the ends to match the die cut.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Andrea Sargent – I can’t wait to see what Andrea has made this week!

Country Woods Suite Mother’s Day Card

Country Woods Suite Mother’s Day Card

The Country Woods Suite is hands down my favourite suite in the new catalogue so it was a no brainer to use it to make a Mother’s Day card for my mum.

However, as Mum reads my blog I couldn’t post this card until after we had our Mother’s Day get together at my place last night!

I’ve used the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, the Country Lace Designer Series Paper, the Country Birdhouse Dies and the Country Flowers Dies to create a sweet country collage scene of a bunch of flowers sitting on the edge of a wooden table.

I thought the Smoky Slate striped pattern from the Country Lace Designer Series Paper looked like wallpaper and the dark Early Espresso wood pattern from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper would be perfect for the table. So this stunning DSP was the starting point for my design.

Mum loves blues, especially Misty Moonlight, so I cut the jug that holds the flowers from another DSP pattern in the Country Lace. I also cut a cute little teapot with a lid and then decided not to use the teapot on this card – I’ll save it for another card.

The sweet little Petal Pink flowers are also die cut from the Country Lace Designer Series Paper using Country Flowers Dies. To make the green leaves I randomly coloured Basic White cardstock using Mossy Meadow Stampin Blends in light and dark before die cutting them out.

The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment comes from the Sentimental Rose Kit, stamped in Early Espresso onto another wood DSP design in the Country Woods DSP.

I used two of the roof dies from the Country Birdhouse dies to create a picture frame for the sentiment. And the hanging bow die from the Country Birdhouse dies to add a bow of ribbon to the vase.

Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins add the final touch of bling!

I’ll be back on Wednesday night with the AWH Colour Creations team showcasing one of the new 2024 -26 In Colours, Pretty in Pink. I hope you can join me then.

2024-26 In Colors – Petunia Pop Card

2024-26 In Colors – Petunia Pop Card

Welcome to week two of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today we’re featuring another of the new 2024-26 In Colors: Petunia Pop. I’ve created this graphic to show how Petunia Pop compares to the current pink/purple colours in the Stampin Up! colour range.

The Country Woods Suite is so stunning and versatile I’ve decided to use it for the first five weeks of our blog hop as we showcase the five new 2024-26 In Colors.

This week, I’ve used the Country Woods Designer Series Paper and both the Country Birdhouse Dies and the Country Flowers Dies. I was inspired by this pattern in the Designer Series Paper.

I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour a different design from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper to create different coloured wood panels for my birdhouse.

I’ve also stamped the “Happy birthday” sentiment from the Country Birdhouse stamp set directly onto this DSP.

I love this colour combination of Petunia Pop, Misty Moonlight, Pool Party, Gray Granite, Basic Black and Basic White!

TIP – to define the wood panels and make this DSP look more like the original DSP design that inspired this card I used a Stampin’ Marker in Basic Black and a ruler to draw black lines between each of the colours.

I used a different DSP pattern for the base of the card – you can see it under the card in this photo below. The Basic Black circle forming the opening of the birdhouse is from the Bright Skies Dies.

Adhesive-backed Fresh Freesia and Misty Moonlight gems from the Tinsel Gems Three-Pack add the final touch of bling!

2024-26 In Colors – Peach Pie – Country Birdhouse & Country Flowers Card

2024-26 In Colors – Peach Pie – Country Birdhouse & Country Flowers Card

Welcome to week one of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!

Today the new 2024-25 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue goes live and we’re kicking off our 2024-25 blog hop with the five new 2024-26 In Colors: Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Pretty in Pink, Shy Shamrock and Summer Splash.

Our colour for Week One is Peach Pie. I’ve created this graphic to show how it compares to the current orange/pink/peach colours in the Stampin Up! colour range.

I’ve paired Peach Pie with Basic Black, Old Olive, Basic White and a new Basics colour called Basic Beige.

My favourite suite in the new Annual Catalogue is the Country Woods Suite Collection.

I’ve used two of the stamp sets from this suite for my card tonight –Country Flowers and Country Birdhouse – as well as the Eyelet embossing folder on my Peach Pie card.

Here’s a close up of the embossed cardstock – swoon! I think this is one of the prettiest embossing folders we have ever had.

The striped DSP down the left side of the card is from the 2024–2026 In Color 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper that all new demonstrators joining in May 2024 will receive for free. And the brand new 2024–2026 In Color Shimmer Gems complete my card!

AWH Colour Creations Tahitian Tide Birds Eye View Cards

AWH Colour Creations Tahitian Tide Birds Eye View Cards

Welcome to week fifty of our Art With Heart 2023-24 Colour Creations blog hop, the last one for the year before we start again next Wednesday night with our 2024-25 blog hop!

Tahitian Tide, one of the 2022-24 InColors is retiring on 31st April. I’ve paired it with Pumpkin Pie and used the adorable Birds Eye View stamp set (thankfully, this set is carrying over) to make two cards for this week.

As the Birds Eye View stamp set does not have any sentiments I’ve used sentiments from the Happy Labels stamp set. This stamp set is retiring on 31st April and it is massively reduced from $42 to $16.80 – well worth snapping up at this price!

I didn’t have any Tahitian Tide DSP left so I used my Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends to colour black and white patterns from both the Rock & Roll Designer Series Paper and the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper.

Card one features the Rock & Roll Designer Series Paper coloured with the dark Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend and the spotted Pumpkin Pie design from the Brights Designer Series Paper.

The bird was coloured in using light and dark Tahitian Tide, Pumpkin Pie and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. I love these three colours together!

For both cards, the embossing folders used on the top layer of Basic White Cardstock are from the Basics embossing folders, an online only exclusive that has three different folders.

And the fronds behind the bird are die cut using the Textured Floral dies.

For card two I’ve coloured the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper using my light Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend and used another design from the Pumpkin Pie DSP in the Brights Designer Series Paper collection.

This bird was also coloured in using light and dark Tahitian Tide, Pumpkin Pie and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.

This bird is sitting on a frond from the Textured Floral dies.

Balmy Blue Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins, Pumpkin Pie Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins and a simple bow of linen thread complete each card.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Christine Blain – I can’t wait to see what Christine has made this week!

AWH Colour Creations Enduring Beauty Birthday Card

AWH Colour Creations Enduring Beauty Birthday Card

Welcome to week forty-nine of our Art With Heart 2023-24 Colour Creations blog hop – only one more week to go before we start again with our 2024-25 blog hop!

Our colour this week is Sweet Sorbet and. I’ve used the gorgeous Enduring Beauty Bundle to make a birthday card.

The Enduring Beauty Bundle includes the Enduring Beauty Stamp Set, the Enduring Beauty Dies, and the Enduring Beauty Decorative Masks. These are easy to line up with the notches on the masks. I’ve used blending brushes to add the layers of colour.

The flowers and leaves are coloured in Sweet Sorbet and Granny Apple Green.

The Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder is retiring soon – I’ve embossed the vellum layer with this gorgeous embossing folder. I accidentally trimmed it a bit short after embossing and I didn’t have enough vellum left to make another layer, however the recipient of the card didn’t seem to mind!

The Pansy Patch stamp set has stunning mixed font sentiments and is retiring soon as well.

I stamped the front sentiment in versmark and heat embossed it in white.

And used another sentiment from Pansy Patch for the inside of my card as well.

Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Di Furniss. I can’t wait to see what Di has made this week!
