Welcome to week 22 of the Art With Heart Team Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Fresh Freesia, a soft and versatile colour that works beautifully in both feminine and modern designs.

For my project, I’ve created a “Card in an Envelope” fancy fold card using the Floral Impressions 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and the Impressions Abloom Dies. My colour combination is taken from the colours in the Floral Impressions DSP: Fresh Freesia, Misty Moonlight, Old Olive, Pool Party and Pretty in Pink.

This fold is such a fun way to surprise the recipient, as they open the normal mailing envelope to discover another envelope that contains a card with flowers that spill out of the interior envelope.

Inside the Fresh Freesia envelope there is a notecard that opens to reveal a sentiment (stamped in Misty Moonlight from the Impressions Abloom stamp set) and space to write a personal message.

How to make my Fresh Freesia “Card in an Envelope” card

The “Card in an Envelope” base is created by folding Fresh Freesia cardstock into an envelope shape, which holds the inner card. When you pull the card out, the envelope reveals a bouquet of dimensional flowers spilling over the edge.

Following the template below:

  • Cut 21 x 21 cm cardstock base.
  • Score and fold at 5.2cm in from the left and right hand side
  • Score and fold 6 cm from bottom side of cardstock
  • Measure and mark other lines in pencil
  • Cut away shaded areas

Once you’ve created the cardstock base, add DSP to decorate the inside back of the card and the front flaps that are folded and glued, as per the photos below. I’ve used the striped Old Olive DSP and the Fresh Freesia patterned DSP from the Floral Impressions 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper.

If you don’t already own the Impressions Abloom Dies, now is the perfect time to pick them up from the Last Chance section before they retire!
