In our house, we try to “cook once, eat twice” during the week and I’ve decided to apply the same approach to my cardmaking this week.
Using the one card sketch I’ve created two cards: a Christmas card and a birthday card. Here are the two versions of the card template I’ve used to make my cards.
Version #1 is a horizontal card design. I used to make my Christmas card
Version #2 is simply Version #1 turned horizontally with the sentiment moved to under the focal point image. I used this version to create a birthday card.
Nests of Winter Christmas Card
The inspiration for both my cards this week came from a beautiful card my friend (and Stampin’ Up! Artisan) Andrea Sargent made for our Insthop last week. It reminded me to fussy the birds and branches from the beautiful Nests of Winter DSP.
The Coastal Cabana DSP panel on the left is also from the Nests of Winter DSP. The embossed cardstock uses an embossing folder called the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder that is reduced and in the last chance section of the website. The Party Dots embellishments are also reduced and in the last chance section of the website so don’t miss out!
The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from a stamp set coming in the new Christmas Catalogue called the “Gift of Joy Stamp Set”. I white heat embossed it onto Coastal Cabana cardstock.
Nests of Winter Birthday Card
This card really showcases the versatility of this beautiful DSP. I rotated my sketch and layered my fussy cut bird, branch and foliage images together to create a sweet birthday card. I’ve used a different Coastal Cabana design from the Nests of Winter DSP on this card.
Like my Christmas card, this card uses the soon to be retired Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder and Party Dots embellishments. Both cards are also finished with a bow of linen thread.

The challenge for Day 16 of the 30 Day Christmas Card Making Challenge is Mistletoe Magic.
This quick and easy card features a die cut mistletoe from the A Little Bit Festive Specialty DSP.
I’ve placed the mistletoe on a die cut piece of Basic White card stock and a layer of Garden Green striped DSP from the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper.
Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels and a bow of Twisted Gold thread add the finishing touch.
I’ll be back tomorrow with another “30 Days of Christmas” Christmas card.
We’re up to day 5 of the 30 Day Christmas Card Making Challenge and today’s challenge is a sketch challenge.
The wonderful thing about a sketch design is that you can use whatever products you have at hand as long as you follow the general sketch layout.
I’ve used the Regal Distressed Patterns Specialty DSP, Season of Elegance DSP and products from the Nests of Winter Suite, including the Nests of Winter DSP and the Winterly Tree Top dies.
The focal image was super easy to make as the birds are from the Nests of Winter DSP, die cut using the Winterly Tree Top dies, so there’s no stamping involved!
The gold fronds are die cut from the Season of Elegance DSP and the brand new online exclusive, the Brushed Silver & Gold Foil Specialty Paper. I also added a thin strip of the new Gold Foil Specialty Paper to highlight the angled line between the DSP on the back of the card.
This photo below shows the gorgeous shine.
The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from the Humble home stamp set, die cut out with a Stylish Shapes die.
The inside of the card has also been decorated using another image die cut from the Nests of Winter DSP and a left over scrap of DSP.
I’ll be back tomorrow with the AWH Coklour creations blog hop showcasing Granny Apple Green and it will also be another “30 Days of Christmas” Christmas card.
Welcome to week twenty of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!
This week we’re featuring Crumb Cake, probably my favourite Stampin’ Up colour as I consider it to be the perfect neutral.
I couldn’t resist making another Christmas card for this week, using a stand alone stamp set that was the very first product to catch my eye in the 2024 Holiday Catalogue: Yuletide Village.
I’ve deliberately kept my colour scheme very neutral with a lot of white as Crumb Cake is often the bridesmaid to other colours.
The original inspiration for this card came from a beautiful card created by a US Stampin’ Up! demonstrator called Sharon Williams Bardsley.
I’ve used the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder for the Basic White cardstock layer and the beautiful Crumb Cake and white DSP design from the Nests of Winter DSP, die cut using the arched frame from the Garden Meadow dies.
The white trees behind the buildings are die cut with the Frosted Forest dies, while the green trees are stamps from the Yuletide Village stamp set, coloured with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut.
All of the buildings are coloured using light and dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, with a touch of Pecan Pie on the church.
I’ve trimmed the word “love” from the sentiment and added five Earth Tones Shimmer Gems to complete the card.
Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Amie McIllroy – I can’t wait to see what Amie has made this week!
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants below.
The AWH Colour Creations team will be back next Wednesday 19th September, showcasing Crushed Curry or you can join us on Monday night for some more Christmas inspiration.
