Welcome to the Monthly Art With Heart Creative Showcase. Tonight we’re sharing some ideas for using designer series paper because Stampin’ Up! have 15% off a select range of their stunning DSPs for the month of October. You can see the full list of papers on sale here.
To celebrate World Card Making day last Saturday I held a class where I shared two card techniques that really showcase designer series papers: a double z-fold Christmas card and a “Scrappy Strip technique” birthday card.
Both of these cards feature stunning designer series papers that can sometimes be overlooked because they are from Product Medleys, so they are not listed in the paper section of the Stampin’ up! website or the catalogues.
These designer series papers also come in refill packs, so you don’t have to purchase the entire product medley to get your hands on the DSP.

The double Z-fold card is a Christmas card and you could use any of the Christmas DSPs on sale to make this design too. For the front panel of the card you can use a sticker from the product medley or stamp a greeting or a different image – the possibilites are endless.
Here’s how it looks from the side.
And here’s my matching envelope – I simply stamped off the Christmas Tree stamp on the back flap of a C6 envelope.
My scrappy strip technique birthday card uses the stunning blues and whites and creams of the Boho Indigo Product Medley.
To make a scrappy strip technique card you simply cut a piece of Very Vanilla A4 card stock in half and score and fold to make the card base. Cut the other piece of card stock in half and trim 1/4 inch (5cm) off the top and side – this is your middle layer. For the top layer, trim 1/2 inch (10cm) off the top and side.
Trim strips of DSP at an angle before lining them up (alternating dark and light) and lining them up with approximately the same gap between strips. Adhere the strips, turn over so the strips are under the top Very Vanilla layer and trim the strips back to the edges of the top layer.
Once you’ve adhered all your layers, add some ribbon behind your sentiment.
I used the Envelope dies to add DSP to the outer flap of a C6 envelope. The Envelope dies come in four different sizes (to match the four different envelope sizes Stampin’ Up! sells) and you can either use them inside as an envelope liner or outside as a feature flap as I’ve done below.
This scrappy strip technique is the perfect way to use up your scraps of DSP.
I’m going to make both these cards again, this time using some of the lovely DSP on sale this month.

Welcome to the Heart of Christmas 2020 where the Art with Heart team share their Christmas inspiration with you on the third Monday of each month.
Today I’m sharing with you two cards that feature both the Sweetest Time bundle and the Peace & Joy Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! August – December mini catalogue.
I love large die images like these because they make for quick and easy cards that look super impressive, especially when you make them using a specialty paper like this stunning Balmy Blue glimmer paper! Isn’t this paper just the bomb!
Before cutting this paper with the largest of the Sweetest Borders dies and the smallest “joy” die from the Joy dies I attached a section of adhesive sheet to the back of my glimmer paper – it makes adhering the pieces to your card front a breeze.
To create my “Sending Joy” card, I began with a Whisper White card base (half of an A4 piece folded in half) topped with a 14.5 x 10 cm layer of Balmy Blue card stock.
I then used the large holly sprig die to cut both a piece of Whisper White card stock and a piece of Balmy Blue glimmer paper – make sure you save all of the Balmy Blue glimmer paper scraps when you remove the die cut paper from the die.
After adhering and trimming the die cut piece of Whisper White card stock to the Balmy Blue card stock layer I carefully filled in the negative gaps in the die cut image with my Balmy Blue Glimmer paper pieces. The angle of this photo shows you just how sparkly this paper is.
Before die cutting the smallest “joy” die from the Joy Dies I attached a section of adhesive sheet to the back of my glimmer paper – it really helps to keep the true shape of this thin word die. The sentiment is stamped in Balmy Blue from the Peace & Joy stamp set.
My Merry Christmas card was quickly created from the leftover Balmy Blue glimmer paper die cuts – it seemed such a shame to waste them!
Because there was so much white space on this card I thought it needed some subtle texture and once again the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder was just perfect for the job.
I trimmed the die cut Balmy Blue glimmer paper and re-arranged the pieces to get a central image I was happy with – this is so easy to do when it’s cut on an adhesive sheet. Extra dots were cut die cut from scraps of Balmy Blue glimmer paper and scattered around my card.
I love getting two cards from one die cut – I think I might be mass producing these two designs for my Christmas cards this year!

Today I’m sharing with you a card that features some adorable new products from the Stampin’ Up! August – December mini catalogue.
The Coming Home Bundle is part of the Trimming the Town Suite and one of my favourite items in the catalogue.
Last month I shared a blue, silver and white card I made using the Home Together dies, but this week I’ve used the same dies in a different way to create a double Z fold card.
A double Z fold card is one of the simplest and most versatile fancy folds you can make…and it always looks impressive!
Here are the measurements for the card base and band, although you can make the band what ever width you want and position it at any height you prefer depending on the type of effect you want.

Once I’d cut and scored my base and band I used the long curved line die to die cut my band, creating a hilly base for my houses to sit on.
This is how I cut the 5 1/2 inch (14cm) front section of the band.
And this is how I cut the remaining two sections – I die cut them laying flat, not folded.
Before you attach your band to your card attach the DSP layer to the inside back of your card base. Attach the band and then work out exactly where you want the the little houses and trees to sit.
Did you realise the dies in this bundle cut out the trees and houses from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper? I just love this for quick and easy card making – it’s this sheet that co-ordinates with the dies.
I decided to narrow my colour palette to just Early Espresso, Misty Moonlight, Pool Party and Old Olive for this card. I then lined up my die cut houses and trees to ensure they looked good both when the card is closed and when it is open.

The sentiment inside and the little trees are stamped from the Coming Home stamp set but the cute “Happy Holidays” sentiment on the front of the card is cut from this sheet of DSP in the the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper.
This DSP has sentiments in other languages too, which is great for overseas relatives!
I wanted to make a special envelope for this special card and try my hand at some snail mail art, also known as mail art or envelope art. This is where you decorate an envelope to match a card and it’s so much fun!
I used a C6 Whisper White envelope, which is the perfect size for my Double Z Fold card.
The address panel was created by using an Early Espresso marker to trace around the largest house die. The dotted lines for the address are in the Ornamental envelope Stamp set.
I also stamped and coloured in some tress from the Coming Home stamp set using my Old Olive bends.
The postage stamp was created using the Festive Post stamp set and matching Rectangular Festive Postage Stamp Punch.
Pool Party was sponged around the outside of the postage stamp to give a vintage look.
The inside of my envelope has been lined using matching DSP, die cut with the Envelope dies that coordinate with the Ornamental Envelopes Stamp set.
The C6 envelope takes the widest envelope liner die – cut a strip of DSP 15cm wide and then line up the die at the top of your insert.
Here it is being cut out on my new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine – I love how well this machine cuts! It will be available to purchase from September.
Fold your insert so it lines up with the fold of the envelope and then all you need to do is trim the length to fit inside the envelope and glue the top flaps together.
You glue on the reverse pattern of your DSP lining.
The final touch was to embellish the outside back flap of my envelope to match the front of the envelope and the card.
I’ve had so much fun creating this fancy fold card and creating some snail mail envelope art!

I’ve been following the beautiful creations of the CASEing the Catty team for a while and I decided to finally join in this week for the CTC380 challenge, which is CASEing the cover of the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue.
There are so many beautiful cards on this cover but in the end I decided to CASE the “Seasons Greetings” card which is on the top left of the cover. I just love that little deer standing proud in amongst the trees.
I don’t have the “In the Pines” bundle yet so I used the Winter Woods and the Rooted in Nature stamp sets (with their matching dies) and the snow globe dies instead.
Slimline cards are all the rage ATM which is why I made my scene horizontal rather than the original vertical. I also switched out the gold for silver, which I personally prefer with Shaded Spruce.
These gorgeous new ribbons are both from the the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue. The Shaded Spruce Argyle Satin ribbon comes in the “Wonder of the Season” Ribbon Combo pack and I’ve layered it on top of the Silver Metallic Mesh Ribbon.
My deer is die cut from silver foil using the Snow Globe Scenes dies.
And the “Season’s Greetings” sentiment is from the coordinating Still Scenes stamp set.

Welcome to week nine of our 2020-2021 Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase. This week we are bringing you some Cherry Cobbler colour inspiration.
Each week various members of our Art With Heart Colour Creations team will be bringing you weekly colour inspiration as we showcase our range of over 50 beautiful Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.
Week 9 – Cherry Cobbler
Cherry Cobbler is a deep rich red colour that always makes me think of Christmas and there are plenty of lovely new Cherry Cobbler products in the August-December catalogue (AKA the holiday catalogue), available to purchase from August 4, which is just next week.
Today I’ve used a stamp set that is part of a punch bundle called Christmas Gleaming. You might already have because it was in last year’s holiday catalogue and it is returning this year.
My “Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly” card doesn’t use the Gleaming Ornaments punch pack – instead I’ve just used the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and simply fussy cut my holly leaves, which was super easy to do using my paper snips.
The holly leaves were stamped with Memento ink onto Whisper White card stock and then coloured them in with light and dark Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow blends. I like the contrast between the lighter and the darker leaves.
The Whisper White panel has been embossed with one of the new “Wrapped in Texture” embossing folders – these raised dots reminded me of the holly berries and I think they work well with the holly sprigs. The sentiment was die cut using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies.
The Wink of Stella pen adds some sparkle and shine to the holly berries. I also heat embossed my sentiment with clear emboss power after I stamped it firstly in Versamark and then in Cherry Cobbler. This is a great technique to remember if you want to emboss in any colour.
Can you see the sparkle and shine? It’s so pretty in real life.
It’s super easy to make your own Cherry Cobbler ribbon and Cherry Cobbler rhinestone jewel. Simply use your dark Cherry Cobbler blend to colour in the Whisper White crinkled seam binding ribbon and the large rhinestone basic jewel and wait a few minutes for the colour to set before adhering to your card.
Hopefully this super close up gives you a better view of my home made Cherry Cobbler ribbon and Cherry Cobbler rhinestone jewel.
I’ll share some other cards I’ve made with this bundle (using the punches as well) later this week.

Today I’m sharing with you a card that features some exciting new products from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! August – December mini catalogue. These products will be able to be purchased from August 4th 2020.
The Coming Home Bundle is part of the Trimming the Town Suite, perfect for Christmas Cards, Welcome to Your New Home Cards, male cards, teenage cards…and even congratulations on getting your licence/buying your first car cards with that adorable little car and its matching die cut. Here’s what you get in this bundle.
For my card today I’ve just used the Home Together dies, along with the gorgeous “Lots of love at Christmas” stamp from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.
I thought this sentiment really suited the card design for two reasons: the curvy shape of the sentiment mirrors the curves of the long horizontal die cuts and the “love at Christmas” references the little Night of Navy house with its silver heart.
I love silver with Night of Navy but Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have a narrow silver ribbon in this current catalogue so I had to get creative! To make my ribbon I cut a narrow strip of silver foil and used the bow die from the “Wreath Builder” dies to cut a bow from silver foil.
The White dot in the centre of my bow is a new embellishment from the Trimming the Town suite – All the Trimmings Embellishments.
Do you recognise the tiny stars, snowflakes and silver circles that embellish my card? They are the Snowflakes Sequins embellishments from last year’s August – December mini and they we be coming back from August 4 in this year’s catalogue too.
My colour combination for this card is very simple but timeless and a real favourite of mine. You can never go wrong with Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, Whisper White and Silver foil.

Hello friends! Welcome to week fifteen of the 2019 Heart of Christmas blog hop!
A month ago I shared with you two of the cards I made using The Most Wonderful Time Product Medley and this week I have four more I’d like to show you…this time featuring Old Olive with a touch of gold.
Two of these cards use the stunning deer stickers that come in this medley, making card making so quick and easy.
The “Season’s Greetings” sentiment has been die cut with the smallest stitched rectangle die and the trees are all stamped in Old Olive, some at full strength and some stamped off.
For card two I stamped and die cut some of my trees and layered them onto a piece of the star background card stock. Can you see the little gold faceted stars stuck to the top of my trees?
This time I stamped the sentiment straight onto my card.
Card three and four are all about trees. I’ve stamped and die cut the trees again, stamping off once and twice to get the different depth of colour in the trees. One gold faceted star and a hint of gold tinsel add some bling, while the sentiment is die cut with a die that comes in the medley.
My final card features a single tree with a gorgeous little gold angel sitting at the top. This is die cut from gold foil – there is also also a die for a little star to sit on top of the tree, so cute!!!
I’ve wrapped the tree in some of the mini gold tinsel. The background DSP has touches of gold as well – hopefully you can see the gold touches in the photo below.

Welcome to Week 13 of the Heart of Christmas blog hop.
This week I’m sharing with you a variety of cards I’ve made using Stampin’ Up!’s brand new “Christmastime Is Here Suite”.
This suite is not in the Holiday Catalogue, but you can order it online here.
All of the products in the suite can either be ordered together or individually. This video gives you closer look.
Yes this is a Christmas suite, but the DSP patterns and the rose themed stamps and dies are also ideal for a variety of cards, including Christmas, birthday, Mother’s Day, thank you and sympathy cards.
Card one is a “for you” card that I shared in a blog last week. Here it is again in case you missed it.
After stamping the rose image in Memento ink onto Whisper White card stock I used my marker pens in Rococo Rose, Mossy Meadow and Gray Granite to colour directly onto the stamped image and then I blended using the clear blender pen, NOT the stampin blends.
Card two uses exactly the same stamped image but colouring in with soft saffron and soft sea foam it gives it a totally different effect.
This time I made a square card and mounted the image onto a piece of Sahara Sand, embossed with the pinewood embossing folder.
I’ve also used the Gold 1/4″ (6.4 mm) Shimmer Ribbon and Gold Glitter Enamel Dots from the suite as well as branches die cut in Whisper White using the Frosted Bouquet dies.
I finished of with some Wink of Stella but did go a teeny weeny bit overboard, making my card very glittery!
Card three is a Christmas card that uses a piece of Let it Snow DSP, overlaid with vellum. I fussy cut the image from the Christmastime is Here DSP, before cutting it in half to sit either side of the “Seasons Greetings” sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas stamped in gold.
Red Rhinestones add a touch of bling and cover a smudge of ink!!!!
Card four uses two different patterns from the Christmastime Is Here DSP to make a birthday card that could very easily be used as a Mother’s Day card if I changed the sentiment.
I picked up on the Poppy Parade and the Mossy Meadow colours in the DSP and used my blender pens in these colours to colour in stamped flowers from the Tea Together stamp set. The teapot, cup and saucer were also stamped from this set and then all cut out using the matching dies.
The happy birthday sentiment is from the Itty bitty Birthdays stamp set die cut out with my stitched rectangle dies.
My final card is another one I shared with you last week and perhaps the most traditional of the lot – a Merry Christmas card.
I simply die cut out the image from the DSP , using the same die that I used to cut out my stamped rose in the other cards. Very quick and super easy.

Welcome to week twelve of the 2019 Heart of Christmas blog hop.
This week I’ve used the Perfectly Plaid Bundle (which includes the Pine Tree Punch and its co-ordinating Perfectly Plaid Photopolymer Stamp Set) to make a silver and white Christmas card.
I’ve used two neat little tricks that you may not realise you can do with your punches and your stamp sets.
The secret to both my tricks…Post It notes!
Did you notice the two smaller trees sitting between the three larger trees on my card? All five trees have been punched using the same Pine Tree Punch, so how did I get two different sizes?
After I punched my tree out I placed the tip of the tree onto the sticky part of a post it note.
The post it note gives me something to hold so I can place the punched tree back into the punch, line it up again and then punch out a smaller tree from the same shape.
The photo below shows how I did this.
Here’s how the two punched shapes look side by side. On the right is the tree punched out once and on the left is the smaller tree created by punching the shape out twice. How cool is that!
As well as different sized trees I used a mixture of papers for my card today, stamping two of them in the Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink before punching them out as well as using silver foil sheets and shimmery white cardstock. I love the look of silver and white together.
My card is finished off with a strip of Silver 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon and a Merry Christmas sentiment stamped in Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.
I die cut my sentiment with the smallest Stitched Shape Rectangle and layered it over a rectangle of shimmery white card stock die cut out with the next largest Stitched Shape Rectangle.
My second cool technique using Post It notes on this card is masking the sentiment for my card.
If you look at the images on the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set below you’ll see the bottom right sentiment says “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” but I only wanted to stamp the Merry Christmas for this card.
I covered up the “and a Happy New Year” section of the sentiment with a post it note BEFORE I inked up my stamp and then removed the post it note before stamping onto the card stock. This ensured I only stamped the “Merry Christmas” section of the sentiment.
A bow of silver thread completes my silver and white Christmas card.

Last week I shared a birthday card with you that I’d made using some of the products from Stampin” Up!’s brand new “Christmastime Is Here Suite” and today I have another card to show you, this time using the Designer Series Paper from this suite
Did you know that just like many other Stampin’ Up! suites there are images on this Designer Series Paper that are designed to be cut out with one of the dies? What a timesaver and just perfect if you don’t enjoy colouring!
If you take a look at the image below you’ll see the die on the bottom right not only matches the co-ordinating stamp above it…it also cuts one of the images from the DSP.
So for my card today I simply die cut out the image from the DSP, used my bone folder to curl up the sides and mounted it onto some Whisper White paper that I had embossed using the Tin Tile Embossing folder.
Does card making get any easier than this?
This suite is not in the Holiday Catalogue because it is a special release, but you can order it online here. All of the products can either be ordered together or individually. This video gives you closer look at all the goodies you get in this suite, including a gorgeous gold bangle in it’s own gift box to either keep for yourself or give to a special friend.
Just in case you missed my post last week, I actually used the same die to cut out a Christmas Rose stamped image and I coloured it in with non Christmas colours to make a birthday card.
Both of these card could work as a thank you card, a Mother’s day card, an engagement card or even a sympathy cards depending on the sentiment you pair with the rose.
Today I’ve stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set in Mossy Meadow.
Here’s an outside shot to show you the gold foiling on the DSP, shimmering in the sunlight.
