Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog Hop #4 CASEing the 60s card

Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog Hop #4 CASEing the 60s card

Welcome to Bronwyn’s fourth Birthday Blog hop! You should have come to me from Chantell Randall.

We’re a group of stamping friends who are celebrating Bron’s 60th Birthday in 2022 with six blog hops, over six months, with six fun themes! Tonight we are CASEing the Catty from a page in the sixties (i.e. any card from pages 60-69 in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue 2022-23). I’ve decided to CASE the hedgehog card on page 61 – top right in the photo below.

I loved the way this card combined the Happy Forest Friends DSP with the gorgeous Happy Hedgehogs stamp set. The tree DSP works really well with the hedgehogs and makes them look like they are in the woods.

I’ve made my card 3D by making a fancy fold that I found on YouTube created by an overseas Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, but I’m not sure what this fancy fold is called? It was really fun to make and I altered the measurements to fit our Australian A4 cardstock.

Here’s what it looks like laying flat.

A lot of the elements on this card are images fussy cut from various DSP designs in the Happy Forest Friends DSP. The colour scheme of Calypso Coral and Soft Suede that I used to stamp and colour the hedgehogs and the large mushroom are inspired by the DSP.

My youngest niece just turned 4 last week so I made this card for her birthday, using the Alphabest stamp set and more fussy cut images to personalise the inside of the card.

The Best Label punch (part of the Alphabest bundle) was the perfect size to punch out the “Happy Birthday” sentiment on the front of the card from the Penguin Place stamp set.

Next up on Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog hop is Vicki Arrowsmith. I can’t wait to see what Vicki has created today!

If you live in Australia, you can find and purchase these products in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the Heart of Christmas blog hop and then again on Wednesday with the AWH Colour Creations blog hop, where we will be showcasing Blushing Bride.

Until then, wherever you are in the world, stay safe, stay calm … and keep on crafting xxx

Blackberry Bliss New Horizon Cards – Week 9 AWH Colour Creations

Blackberry Bliss New Horizon Cards – Week 9 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week nine of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! This is a weekly blog hop where we showcase the stunning range of Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order over 12 months and this week we are featuring Blackberry Bliss.

There are some gorgeous products retiring this week on June 30, including the New Horizons Suite. I’m using three products from this suite today: the New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Horizon Dies and the On the Horizon Stamp Set.

The New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is a wonderful paper for creating scene cards and Blackberry Bliss is one of the many colours in this paper.

Blackberry Bliss looks amazing with Fresh Freesia, so I’ve used these two colours together for my card bases and cardstock layers to create three cards that show how the New Horizons DSP makes it super easy to create cards for all levels of crafting ability.

My simple stamping card for beginners simply uses paper and ink – Blackberry Bliss ink stamped onto the DSP. The “Breathe” sentiment, flock of birds and reed stamps are all from the “On the Horizon” stamp set.

Card two steps it up for intermediate crafters who have a die cutting machine, however the layered sentiment could easily be cut with paper snips or a paper trimmer for crafters who don’t own a die cutting machine.

I’ve uses one of the stitched banner dies from the new Stylish Shapes Dies and curled up the ends to add even more dimension. Once again, all of the stamps are from the “On the Horizon” stamp set.

Card three is for avid crafters, using the Horizon Dies to die cut sections of the New Horizons DSP to create a layered collage mountain scene, with Blackberry Bliss card stock trees.

The sentiment is heat embossed with white emboss powder onto Blackberry Bliss card stock and layered using the Stylish Shapes banner dies. Linen thread is wrapped around the horizon and tied into a single bow.

These cards are all so easy to make because New Horizons DSP really does do all the heavy lifting for you!

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Tina Gillespie – I can’t wait to see what Tina has made this week!

Bermuda Bay Robot Buddies Kit Cards – Week 8 AWH Colour Creations

Bermuda Bay Robot Buddies Kit Cards – Week 8 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week eight of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! This is a weekly blog hop where we showcase the stunning range of Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order over 12 months and this week we are featuring Bermuda Bay.

Since there is a “Buy One, Get One 50% Off” sale on all of the Stampin’ Up! Kits until 30 June, I couldn’t resist adding two of the adorable Robot Buddies Kids Card Kit to a recent order. The colours in this kit include Bermuda Bay, along with Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie.

The kit contains step-by-step instructions for nine cards in three different predesigned projects, but there are so many elements that let you make and design your own cards as well.

  • 2 Classic Stampin’ Spots in Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie
  • 9 card bases and 9 envelopes
  • Robot Buddies Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • 2 printed sticker sheets
  • 1 printed die-cut sheet
  • 1 sheet of adhesive-backed googly eye embellishments
  • Enough adhesive to complete the projects
  • A printed box for storage or crafting on the go

Whenever I receive a kit I always make up one of each of the set designs first before I head “off grid” with my designs!.

Don’t these these robots make you smile! I just love their googly eyes.

This slimline landscape slimline card was created by adding some clouds and hearts die cut using the “Give It a Whirl” dies in Balmy Blue and Pumpkin Pie.

The Bermuda Bay grass was stamped with the Happy Hedgehogs Stamp Set onto a hand cut Granny Apple Green lawn.

And finally, this quick and easy monochrome masculine birthday card was made using the Night of Navy DSP pattern from the inside of the envelopes, spare stickers from the kit (chopped up) and the gear stamps that are included in the kit’s stamp set.

I had so much fun creating with this kit. I’m giving the second one I purchased in the BOGO 50% off sale to my niece as part of her 6th birthday present and I can’t wait to create with her.

Basic Gray Blessings of Home Cards – Week 7 AWH Colour Creations

Basic Gray Blessings of Home Cards – Week 7 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week seven of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! This is a weekly blog hop where we showcase the stunning range of Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order over 12 months and this week we are featuring Basic Gray.

The stunning Heart & Home Designer Series Paper retires soon on June 30 so I really wanted to use it for my cards tonight. I love the different widths of the Basic Gray wood grain patterns and I’ve roughed up the edges of this DSP with paper snips before I adhered them to my Basic Gray card bases.

The darkness of the Basic Gray cardstock really makes this woodgrain DSP pop and I’ve coloured the flowers and leaves with Fresh Freesia and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends using the light Basic Black Stampin’ Blend for the centre of the largest flowers.

The larger floral spray stamp from the Blessings of Home stamp set has been stamped in Basic Gray and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. The Blessings of Home bundle also includes the Flowers of Home Dies which I’ve used to cut out the larger floral spray stamp as well as die cut the Basic Gray sprigs on my slimline card.

I’d also stamped and coloured the smaller spray of flowers from the Blessings of Home set but decided not to use it on the slimline card, so I quickly made a second card with it.

The flowers on this thank you card are layered on top of one of the Heart & Home Doilies and these doilies will also retire on June 30.

My layered bow consists of three different ribbons: Gray Granite Shimmer ribbon and Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon that have been cut in half using my paper snips as well as linen thread.

Matte Dots in Basic Gray and some Wink of Stella in the middle of the largest flowers complete my cards.

Balmy Blue Perfectly Penciled Card – Week 6 AWH Colour Creations

Balmy Blue Perfectly Penciled Card – Week 6 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week six of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! This is a weekly blog hop where we showcase the stunning range of Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order over 12 months.

My card today has very little stamping as the beautiful flowers are actually a new black and white Designer Series Paper called Perfectly Penciled.

After colouring one of the floral sprays on the edge of the DSP using Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends, I fussy cut the flowers out with my paper snips and adhered them to a layer of Basic White cardstock using multipurpose glue.

The “Thank You” sentiment is from a lovely new sentiment stamp set called Go-To Greetings. I felt that the ornate, slightly old fashioned script looked like handwriting and matched the pretty blue floral sprays.

A couple of excess pieces of DSP adorn the inside of my card.

CASEing the Catty #371 – Autumn Beauty of Friendship card

CASEing the Catty #371 – Autumn Beauty of Friendship card

Today I’m joining in the #CTC371 challenge, which is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) the colours of the He’s the Man DSP – Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand and Soft Succulent from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue.

These are the colours from the He’s the Man DSP – I used four of these colours on my card today.

These colours remind me of autumn, so I decided to use the acrylic block stamping technique to create an autumn scene.

You can use Basic White cardstock for this technique, but I wanted the texture that watercolour paper gives to the image. I inked up an acrylic block (I used size E) by tapping my Crushed Curry stamp pad directly onto it, spritzed it with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer and then I stamped the acrylic block directly onto the watercolour paper.

The tree stamp from the Beauty in Friendship stamp set is stamped in Early Espresso ink, with the leaf stamp in Cajun Craze, and then I roughed up the edges of the watercolour paper using my paper snips.

Since I had my sewing machine out, I decided to sew the watercolour paper to a mat of Basic Black cardstock. I love sewing on paper, it gives a really cool texture to cards.

The “Thank You” sentiment is also from the Beauty of Friendship set, heat embossed in white onto Basic Black cardstock.

Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog Hop #3 – Inky Blues card

Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog Hop #3 – Inky Blues card

Welcome to Bronwyn’s third Birthday Blog hop!

We’re a group of stamping friends who are celebrating Bron’s 60th Birthday in 2022 with six blog hops, over six months, with six fun themes! This is our inspiration pic for tonight’s hop – the current Stampin’ Up! range of blues.

I love all these blues and wanted to use as many of them as possible on my card so I decided to make a paper quilt card using some of the paper patterns from Stampin’ Up!’s Butterfly Kisses, Lovely Linen, Tea Boutique, Sun Prints and 2022-24 In Colour Designer Series Papers.

Creating a paper quilt card is very easy and – you just need a paper trimmer to cut your DSP into precise squares. I cut one and a half inch squares and then arranged the DSP at an angle onto half a sheet of A4 cardstock (A5)– this size makes two paper card quilts.

Once I’d adhered the squares using multipurpose glue, I turned it over and trimmed the overhang DSP back to the A5 cardstock base.

I then cut my patchwork layer in half, trimmed it and layered it to onto my card base using the following measurements.

  • Card base – Basic White cardstock 14.9 x 10.5cm (half a sheet of A4, folded in half)
  • Basic Back layer – 14.4 x 10 cm
  • Quilted paper layer – 13.9 x 9.5cm

I then used a stamp from the the Stitchery Stamp Set to add “stitches” to my quilt in Memento Tuxedo black ink.

The final touch was embossing with the stitched greenery die – it really makes the patchwork card look like it is quilted!

The “Thank you” sentiment and matching die is from the new Charming Sentiments Bundle, which includes the Charming Sentiments Stamp Set and the Sentiment Silhouettes Dies.

I stamped the “Thank You” stamp in Versamark ink onto Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.

Next up on Bronwyn’s Birthday Blog hop is the birthday girl herself, Bronwyn Easterly. I can’t wait to see what Bronwyn has created today!

Tahitian Tide Bottled Happiness Card – Week 5 AWH Colour Creations

Tahitian Tide Bottled Happiness Card – Week 5 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week five of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! We are showcasing each of the 5 new In Colours for the first 5 weeks before we then feature our core colours in alphabetical order.

Our fifth new In Colour is Tahitian Tide, a turquoise colour that has been missing from the Stampin’ Up! colour range. Here’s what Tahitian Tide looks like in comparison to the other current Stampin’ Up! blue, aqua and teal colours.

I’ve paired Tahitian Tide with my favourite neutral, Crumb Cake, for my 3D “Just a note” card. This card features lots of exciting new products, including the Bottled Happiness punch bundle, the Vintage bottle shaker domes, Deckled Rectangle Dies and 2022-2024 In Colour Glimmer Paper.

After I stamped the flowers I realised they were stamped on an angle that wouldn’t allow enough room for me to punch out the bottle shape underneath, so I punched my bottle out on an angle too. I often arrange flowers like this so I think it looks quite realistic!

I also used the Vintage bottle punch to punch out a bottle from the Tahitian Tide glimmer paper to look like the sparkle of water in the bottle. As the glimmer paper is an ombre paper, I chose the lighter section of the paper for the water. The glimmer bottle shape was popped inside a Vintage bottle shaker dome.

I added a tiny touch of sparkle to the centre of my flowers using a long die of circles from the Sentiment Silhouettes Dies to cut tiny circles from the glimmer paper. I have now mislaid this die after just one use! I do hope it turns up soon.

The “Just a Note” sentiment has the most gorgeous font. It comes from a new sentiment stamp set called Go-To Greetings Stamp Set, designed by Sandi Hartka, one of the Million Dollar achievers.

This versatile sentiment set includes three different sizes and fonts of your most stamped greetings — Thinking of You, Just a Note, Thank You, and Happy Birthday – as well as a small Hello. I already know I’m going to use this must-have set so much!

Sweet Sorbet Eclectic Garden Card – Week 4 AWH Colour Creations

Sweet Sorbet Eclectic Garden Card – Week 4 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week four of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! We are showcasing each of the 5 new In Colours for the first 5 weeks before we then feature our core colours in alphabetical order for the rest of the year.

Our fourth new In Colour is Sweet Sorbet, a vibrant red that sits neatly between Real Red and Poppy Parade. Here’s what Sweet Sorbet looks like in comparison to the other current Stampin’ Up! reds and pinks.

I decided to use the Eclectic Garden stamp set for my card because the flower stamp reminds me of a Waratah, the native flower of my home state of New South Wales, Australia.

Waratahs are a vibrant red, the ideal flower to be coloured in with Sweet Sorbet.

In the end I decided to create a slimline card also using two of the other images from Eclectic Garden because they are all so cute. After all, radishes can be red and the berries could be lingonberries!

The splatters are stamped with another stamp included in the Eclectic Garden stamp set, as is the cute “Thanks So Much” curved sentiment. The embossing folder is the the 3D Hive Embossing folder.

I used my light and dark Mossy Meadow and Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Blends to colour the images in and the 2 largest circles from the new Stylish Shapes Dies to die cut the images out.

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Rachel Woollard – I can’t wait to see what has made this week!

Starry Sky Teacup Dies Card – Week 3 AWH Colour Creations

Starry Sky Teacup Dies Card – Week 3 AWH Colour Creations

Welcome to week three of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop! We are showcasing each of the 5 new In Colours for the first 5 weeks before we then feature our core colours in alphabetical order for the rest of the year.

Our third new In Colour is Starry Sky, a rich and dramatic midnight blue.

Here’s what Starry Sky looks like in comparison to the other current Stampin’ Up! blues and blue/green aqua colours.

My card today is a belated Mother’s Day card for my mum who loves beautiful old china cups and anything blue and white – blue is her favourite colour. I’ve used both the Teacup Dies and the Flowers of Home Dies to create a Wedgewood like effect on my teacups.

Smaller dies can often be overlooked, but these dies from the Flowers of Home Dies are the perfect scale for these teacups. The “fern” die on the other teacups is one of the dies in the Teacup Die set.

My top tip for adding these detailed dies to the top of your teacups? Make sure you adhere an adhesive sheet to the reverse side of the cardstock you are die cutting BEFORE you die cut it with these floral dies. It makes it so much easier to adhere them without getting glue everywhere.

The Teacup Dies don’t have a saucer die, however that is easily fixed. The plain oval from the Double Oval Punch or the smallest plain oval die from the now retired Oval Layering Dies (these two ovals are virtually identical in size and shape) work perfectly as a saucer for the teacups.

I used my light Gray Granite and light Starry Sky Stampin’ Blends to draw a line under the base of each cup to “anchor” the cups into their saucers.

The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment from Flowering Tulips stamp set was the perfect shaped sentiment for this layout, however you could replace this sentiment with the “Happy Birthday” “Thank You”, “Thinking of You” or the “Hello” sentiment from the new Go To Greetings stamp set.

An oversized card requires an oversized envelope, so I made a simple one using one of the DSP patterns from the new stunning Sun Prints DSP.

Both sides of this DSP perfectly match the colours I’ve used in my card today: Starry Sky, Gray Granite and Basic White.

Gray Granite Baker’s Twine and two square white brads make an easy and stylish closure.

As well as mix and matching your dies, don’t forget to mix and match your stamp sets too. To make the perfect sentiment for my mum I combined the “Thank you” sentiment from the Cup of Tea Stamp set and the “love you so much” sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set.

I added a capital “I” to make the sentiment read “I love you so much” by stamping the “/” stamp from the new Alphabest stamp set on an angle and it worked perfectly!

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Andrea Sargent – I can’t wait to see what Andrea has made this week!
