Something very special happened last Sunday. My gorgeous mum turned 80 and we went out for a special lunch to celebrate her birthday. Happy birthday Mum!!!
Mum is an amazing crafter and we love to craft together when we can, which unfortunately is not often enough as life and work keeps getting in the way! I love making special cards for Mum because she really appreciates them, so I decided to make a fancy fold card I’ve never made before – a pop-up vase card!
Here is the front of the card, featuring the stunning free SALE-a-bration Dainty Flowers DSP available from this Thursday.
The 80 has been die cut using a new set of alphabet and number dies called Alphabet A La Mode Dies and the “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Something Fancy stamp set, both available from this Thursday in the January mini catalogue.
A little trick to create the “th” for 80th – stamp the “happy birthday” sentiment again and cut the “th” from the word “birthday”.
Inside the card is where the magic happens. In the video below you can see how as the card opens the vase of flowers pops up!
Here is the card folded flat, ready to open…
Halfway open …
Laid flat with the vase fully popped up…
The flowers in the vase are all die cut using the Dainty Delight dies and the beautiful sentiment inside the card comes from the Something Fancy stamp set.
A special card needs a special envelope – this was made using another sheet of the SALE-a-bration Dainty Flowers DSP.
Did you notice the gorgeous Brushed Brass Butterflies that embellish the card front? They work perfectly with this DSP!
I’ll be back tomorrow, Wednesday January 4, with the AWH Colour Creations team to showcase Pacific Point and some more gorgeous SALE-a-bration products.
Welcome to week thirty three of our Art With Heart 2022-23 Colour Creations blog hop, our last hop for this year before we take a two week break over Christmas and New Year.
This is a weekly blog hop where we showcase the stunning range of Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order over 12 months and this week we are featuring Old Olive from the Regals family.
Who’s ready for a sneak peek of some items from the new Mini Catalogue and SALE-a-bration Catalogue?
I’m excited to share with you three cards made using a stunning new SALE-a-bration DSP that will be available in just a few week’s time.
The Dainty Flowers DSP has been hand water coloured and it will be free to redeem with any order of $90 or over from January 5, 2023.
Photos don’t really do justice to just how beautiful this DSP is in real life. The water coloured floral pattern I’ve used for all three cards actually looks like it has been embossed!!
For the sentiments on all three cards, I stamped them in Versamark onto Old Olive cardstock and then heat embossed the sentiments with white emboss powder.
The “Love you” sentiment is from another forthcoming SALE-a-bration item, the Thanks A Bunch stamp set.
The “Thank You” and “Sending Happy Thoughts” sentiments are from yet another forthcoming SALE-a-bration stamp set, Beautifully Happy.
All three cards have a Crumb Cake cardstock base and the only embellishment is some linen thread.
After all, with Designer Series Paper this beautiful, you really don’t need to do much at all!
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Kate Morgan – I can’t wait to see what Kate has made this week!
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants below.
Welcome to week 36 of our 2021-22 Colour Creations blog hop! Tonight we are showcasing Pool Party from the Subtles family.
Tonight’s cards bring together the free Simply Marbleous SALE-a-bration DSP with a brand new bundle that I am super excited about. The Waves of Inspiration Cling Stamp Set and Waves Dies are an early-release product from the 2022–2023 Annual Catalogue and will be available to purchase from March 1.
From 1 March – 2 May there will also be a limited release foil pack (two sheets each of Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Silver foil), rhinestone embellishments and the most spectacular Waves of the Ocean 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Paper. I can’t order the Waves of the Ocean DSP until next week, but this 3 minute video gives you a sneak peek of all of these these stunning products.
My husband and my boys really do live to surf so I know I will get a lot of use from this set! We are lucky enough to live at one of the best surfing beaches in Australia and surfing is such a wonderful activity they enjoy all year round. This Waves of the Ocean collection is definitely one I will keep and use forever.
The cards I’ve made for today use a pared back colour palette of Pool Party with Basic Black and Basic White.
Whenever I use the die inlay technique I always make two cards so as not to waste the negative images from either die cut.
Die Inlay Technique, step by step
Adhere adhesive strip to one side of a 14×7 cm piece of Pool Party card stock and the reverse side of a 14×7 cm piece of Simply Marbleous DSP.
Use one of the large wave dies to cut a wave from the Pool Party card stock – do not throw away any of the negative pieces.
Use the same wave die to cut a wave from the Simply Marbleous DSP, again keeping the negative pieces.
Adhere the wave outline to the card base and then use the negative pieces from the other die cut wave to fill in the wave.
Repeat for the other card, using the cardstock and DSP in reverse.
The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set – I gently curled the sentiment onto the acrylic block to fit around the wave before stamping. The palms and coconuts are from the new Paradise Palms stamp set and the birds and the sun are from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set.
Can you have a Pool Party sun? I hope so, because didn’t want to introduce another colour into the colour palette.
The Simply Marbleous DSP really does look so realistic for waves, capturing the way light falls across a wave, as well as all the froth!
Card two uses the die offcuts from card one and the “best day ever” sentiment from the Sweet Symmetry stamp set. This is exactly what my boys would say if the waves were pumping like this and they got to ride them all day!
The Playful Alphabet dies are perfect for creating a custom word or phrase on a card – in this case it’s “Surf’s Up!”
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Kate Morgan– I can’t wait to see what Kate has made this week!

Welcome to week 35 of our 2021-22 Colour Creations blog hop! Tonight we are showcasing Petal Pink from the Subtles family.
My cards tonight use the stunning Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper and the Friendly Hello Stamp Set from the The Friendly Hello Bundle, which is one of the free SALE-a-bration products.
The Friendly Hello DSP is so versatile. Some images from the stamp set are designed to be stamped directly onto the paper, some of the papers are printed to look like they have already been stamped on and all the designs can just be used as they are.
To showcase this beautiful DSP I’ve made a couple of “joy fold” fancy fold cards. This simple fancy fold is a “smaller card within a card”, with the front flaps overlapping and it is a great fancy fold for using beautiful DSP.
This 30 second video shows you how this fancy fold works.
Card one is on a Basic Black card base with the top card opening to the left and the base card opening to the right. Instead of using DSP on the front of the top card, I stamped the bird from the Friendly Hello stamp set and the sentiment from the Special Moments stamp set, another free SALE-a-bration stamp set.
I quickly coloured the bird and the flowers using light and dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.
Here is how my joy cards look as you open up the front flap…
…And the middle flap. This inside sentiment is also from the Special Moments stamp set.
And from above!
My second card is on a Basic White card base with the top card opening to the right, the base card opening to the left and DSP on the front flap.
To create the “Hello” sentiment I used a Post It note to mask off the word “friend” from one of the Friendly Hello stamps, inked up the stamp and them removed the post it note BEFORE stamping the sentiment onto Basic White card stock.
Both cards are embellished with the Petal Pink Elegant Faceted Gems.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Christine Blain– I can’t wait to see what Christine has made this week!
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants below.
Today I’m joining in the #CTC353 challenge, which is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) the 2022 Sale-a-bration Catalogue. I decided to CASE this card on page 2 of the 2022 Sale-a-bration Catalogue.
Although I CASED the slimline format, the rainbows and the Pool Party/Basic Black/Basic White colour combination, my card ended up looking very different to the card I CASED!
When my order arrived this week I realised that this FREE Sunshine and Rainbows SALE-a-bration DSP has a DSP design that co-ordinates with the new Cloud punch – how cool is that!
I wanted to use as many of these gorgeous clouds as possible on my card so I didn’t waste the partial clouds on the edges of the DSP. I punched these clouds out too and used them on the sides and the top of my card. I also used my Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend! to colour in some of the clouds.
As well as the FREE Sunshine and Rainbows SALE-a-bration DSP I used another SALE-a-bration product on this card – the adorable “Driving By” Stamp set.
This FREE stamp set is the perfect set to try two awesome stampin’ techniques: reverse stamping and paper piecing. I’ve paper pieced the combi van on the left using a different Pool Party DSP from the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP and then I used my silicone mat to the reverse the combi image so I could have the other combi travelling in the other direction on the other side of the road.
The road is a 1″ strip of Basic Black cardstock – the road lines are hand drawn using the Chalk Marker.
The Sunshine and Rainbows DSP coordinates with the Rainbow of Happiness bundle.
I’ve used the “Rainbow of Happiness” stamp set from this bundle to stamp my rainbow in non-traditional colours to match the DSP clouds and the road: Basic Black, Pool Party and Gray Granite.
I used some more of the partial clouds to decorate the inside of the card and couldn’t resist adding another little combi van, this time stamped directly onto my card.

Welcome to week 17 of our 2021-22 Colour Creations blog hop! Tonight we are showcasing Garden Green, a mid green from the Regals colour collection.
As SALE-a-bration ends tomorrow night I decided to bring together three of my favourite products from SALE-a-bration for my card tonight: the Be Dazzling DSP, the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper and the Summer Shadow Dies.
Although Garden Green is not a green I use very often, I really like pairing it with Basic Black and Soft Seafoam.
These Summer Shadow Dies are a great die set because they work so well on their own or you can use them to cut out the stamped images from the Shaded Summer Stamp Set. You can use them as single layer dies or layer them – I’ve done both single and double layers on my card.
The black and white Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper goes with any colour and you can use it just as it is or you can colour it in.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Theresa Gerrard – I can’t wait to see what she’s made this week!

I’ll be back with another Christmas card next Monday. In the meantime, wherever you are in the world, stay safe, stay calm … and keep on crafting xxx
Hello crafters! It’s the last week of SALE-a-bration so I decided to make a Christmas card that uses my favourite SALE-a-bration item. Yep, you guessed it, it’s the Be Dazzling DSP!
I’m also using a punch bundle that I initially overlooked in the July – December 2021 Mini Catalogue, the Stars are Shining bundle. At just $53 this a really affordable bundle with a versatile stamp set that includes 5 Christmas sentiments, 4 ornament stamps and a large cluster of stars on 1 star stamps you can punch out to create 6 separate stars.
This Be Dazzling DSP just had to be paired with the punched out stars and the “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star” sentiment!
My Basic White card base measures 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 “; the Be Dazzling DSP layer measures 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 “; and the stamped Basic White top layer measures 4 1/2 x 4 1/2″.
After stamping in the star stamp in versamark and heat embossing it in gold embossing powder I punched the stars out with the Starlit Punch and also used punched stars out of the Be Dazzling DSP. With these 2 punches I had plenty of stars to cover my card.
A wonderful snowflake embellishment sits behind the largest Be Dazzling star, with the smallest stamped and gold embossed star sitting on top.
Gold metallic Simply Elegant Trim wrapped around the bottom of the card under the sentiment.
I’ve stockpiled a few packets of this Be Dazzling DSP to use on my Christmas cards this year. If you want to use the Be Dazzling DSP on your Christmas cards too it will be retired this Thursday, September 30, so don’t miss out!
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Kate Morgan. I can’t wait to see what Kate shares with us today!

Hello crafters! I had planned to make just one card this week, but a simple mistake and a desire not to waste my craft materials actually led to three cards instead. I think I’ll claim that as a win instead of a loss!
Originally, I intended to make a shaker card using the Christmas Cloche bundle, the Cloche Shaker Domes, the Be Dazzling DSP and this soft, snowy tree patterned paper from the Harvest Meadow DSP. Isn’t this pattern just stunning?
After stamping the cloche outline and the bird image from the Classic Cloche stamp set and colouring it in with my light and dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ blends, I die cut the image out using my Cloche die.
Unfortunately, I then glued the stamped and die cut image to the DSP layer that I had ALREADY ADHERED to my card front. I totally forgot that with a shaker card you use the DSP as the TOP layer to hide the self adhesive edges of the Cloche Shaker Domes!
So my shaker card became a 2D “postal version” of a shaker card instead, embellished with a Pierced Blooms Dies bow cut from the free SALE-a-bration Be Dazzled DSP.
I love these sentiments from the Classic Cloche stamp set. I’ve stamped them in Crumb Cake for each of my three cards, using a different sentiment for each card.
Take two and this time I remembered to use the cloche die to cut my DSP and adhere the DSP over the top of the card front AFTER I had adhered the Cloche Shaker Dome to the Crumb Cake card stock layer.
The shakers inside the Cloche Dome are the metallic gold and silver sequins from the Sequins For Everything embellishments.
So, why did I make a third card?
After I had die cut the opening for the Cloche Shaker Dome card I realised that the negative die piece looked just like a bell, so I die cut another “cloche bell” from the Be Dazzling DSP to match and made a quick musical card to not waste my scraps.
The Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder was the perfect choice to emboss the Crumb Cake cardstock layer. In case you are wondering, the musical score is Joy to the World.
Die cut circles of the Be Dazzling DSP to create bell clappers make the bells more realistic.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely Tina Gillespie. I can’t wait to see what Tina shares with us today!

I love sheep! Growing up in the country, we always had a pet poddy lamb in our backyard. Poddy lambs are what lambs are called if they have either been orphaned or rejected by their mother and the local farmers would give them to us to hand raise as pets.
My brother and I would bottle feed the lambs and as they grew they would keep our lawn permanently mowed and let us ride them like horses and even dress them up in fancy dress clothes!
For this card I’ve used two FREE SALE-a-bration products: the Counting Sheep stamp set and the coordinating Sheep Dies. These adorable sheep are the perfect size for a Floating Gatefold Card. You could also use the penguins from the Penguin Place bundle or even the Peaceful Deer Bundle.
Here’s what the card looks like when closed with the belly band on (left photo) as well as on the inside of the card with the sheep popping up (right photo).
Because this card has pop up elements inside it is hard to keep it flat when the card is closed, which is why I decided to create a belly band. This card will easily fit into an standard envelope for posting but it was tricky to photograph it closed without the belly band on!
And here is another look at the inside. Because this is quite a busy card on the inside I’d probably write on the back panel instead.
Don’t these sheep just make you laugh!
If you would like the instructions on how to make this card, they are in the August Tutorial bundle, are available on my tutorial page.

Hello to all my crafting friends! I’m back with another entry for the “G’day Fri’yay’ Card Making Challenges” Facebook group, a fortnightly Card Making Challenge with Aussie Themes.
The theme for this challenge is “Surf’s UP!”. My husband and my sons are all obsessive surfers so I have a stack of surfing stamps and have made many a surfing card in my time, however, for this challenge I wanted to create a surfing card using non-surfing craft products.
Is it just me who gets a kick out of the idea that you might see penguins dressed in scarves and beanies out in the surf?
I know surfing is not the first thing that might spring to mind with the FREE SALE-a-bration DSP Penguin Playmates, but the stance and movement of these penguins reminded me of the way surfers hold their bodies while surfing.
The Misty Moonlight and white striped DSP was used make waves, with one of the Basic Border dies cut into smaller pieces to create whitewash foam on the edge of the waves.
I did use a die from my stash to use some of the Penguin Playmates DSP to create the two larger surfboards. The two smaller surfboards were just hand trimmed from this DSP. The penguin who is bodyboarding was stamped and fussy cut – the others are all fussy cut from the same Penguin Playmates DSP.The little penguin getting air is my fave – let’s just crown him the “Gabriel Medina” of surfing penguins right now! I’ve used the arrow dies from the Give it a Whirl dies to draw attention to him (I’ve also used the cloud dies from the Give it a Whirl dies). This penguin really is the “coolest” of the penguins, hence the matching sentiment!
Playful Alphabet dies form the “Surf’s Up”, leaving you in no doubt that, believe it or not, these penguins are actually surfing, not skiing. I had so much fun making this card and I hope my surfing penguins put a smile on your face too!
Thanks for visiting my blog today. I’ll be back tomorrow with some more Heart of Christmas inspiration and on Wednesday our weekly AWH Colour Creations Showcase – we are creating projects with Crushed Curry this week.
