Happy Birthday Card using the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper

Happy Birthday Card using the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper

As soon as I saw the Honey Bee bundle and the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up! 2020 mini catalogue and Sale-a-bration catalogue I knew it would be perfect for making a card for my friend Amanda.

Amanda lives just around the corner from me and we quilt together, enjoy coffee catch ups at the beach and walk our dogs together. But the reason I was so excited about the Honey Bee suite is because Amanda has recently become the owner of a bee hive.

However, when it was Amanda’s birthday a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to make her a bee birthday card, I realised I hadn’t yet ordered the Honey Bee bundle. Luckily, I had a packet of the beautiful co-ordinating Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper.

This paper is so elegant with its black and white designs highlighted with touches of golden foil and I wanted to make a card that really showcased the beautiful bee patterns on this paper.

And here’s what I came up with!

For the Happy Birthday I used the happy birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday To You Cling Stamp Set, stamping it with Versamark ink before heat embossing it in white and fussy cutting it with my paper snips.

I used the stitched rectangle dies to create a frame for my card and attached the frame using adhesive strips. I fussy cut a tiny black and white bee from the the DSP, attaching it with a mini dimensional.

Here’s my finished card with the matching envelope I made from a different sheet of the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The back of the envelope features another bee. This one is golden and larger than the one on the front of the card, but it’s also fussy cut from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used a sticky dot behind the bee to make the envelope seal resealable.

Here’s a picture of the back of the envelope with a mini jar of honey and a bee’s wax candle that Amanda gave to me … I love that I could make a card that is just perfect for her, even without the Honey Bee Bundle!

You can earn both the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Happy Birthday to You stamp set for free when you place any order over $90 in my online store during Sale-a-bration.

You can also purchase matching dies for the Happy Birthday to You stamp set and I’ll be sharing some more cards made with this set later this week.

Sale-a-bration also has a bonus for recruits joining during this promotion. For the joining fee of $169 you can choose your starter kit of products to the value of $235 plus a Mini Paper Cutter, a 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper sampler and their choice of stamp set.

Now, let’s get to the projects! I can’t wait to see what everyone has made!

This month I was inspired by a male member of the international Artisan Design Team – his name is Martin Stone and he is a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from the UK. He created a tattoo style card using the Honey Bee bundle, adding his own elements with a stencil as well as by doodling with the Stampin’ Up! journaling pens.

Isn’t this so cool? It is such a fresh approach and a totally different way to use your stamps.

I’ve always loved to doodle on my stamping and I just loved the sharpness of his geometric style so I decided to give this style a go using a free stamp set from Sale-a-bration: Lovely Lily Pad.

This technique is so fun I ended up making four cards for tonight’s blog hop. I also used some of my other stamp sets and my journalling pens.

My first card features the largest water lily image, along with a circle stamp and the longest straight line stamp from the Swirly Frames stamp set and the “swirly” stamp from the A Big Thank You stamp set.

I used the free lilypad dies (a level 2 Sale-a-bration item) to cut out a mask for my water lily before I stamped the Swirly Frames line over the top of it and then I drew the rest of the image freehand with my journalling pen.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set, stamped in versamark ink and heat embossed using white embossing powder on black card stock.

For card two I used tiny freehand dots to shade my water lily, which I framed with a dotted circle. Geometric compass points were drawn with a ruler and finished off with more doodling.

I doodled lines and dots on the large water lily for card three, before adding doodle circles above and below. The striped black and white background DSP is from another free Sale-a-bration item: the stunning Golden Honey Specially DSP.

Finally, my smallest card uses the smallest water lily stamp, the swirly stamp from A Big Thank You and more free hand doodling and tiny dots.

Which of my cards do you prefer? Even though I need more practice to get to Martin’s standard, I had so much fun creating them all I can’t make up my mind!

Art With Heart Easter 2018 Blog Hop

Art With Heart Easter 2018 Blog Hop

Tonight the Art With Heart team are sharing their Easter creations.

Don’t forget, Sale-a-bration has just over a week left to earn free product with purchase…and it is also a fabulous time to join Stampin’ Up!

Ask any of the girls on the hop for more details.

Easter Egg Silver Mini Gable Boxes

Don’t you just love these silver mini gable boxes?

They are so easy to decorate, look very professional, and their silver foil colour is a great neutral that works with any colour.

You can also open them up and turn them inside out if you’d like a plain white surface to work with and add colour to, but I decided to stick with the silver theme for my Easter Egg boxes.

Box 1: Springtime Foils Easter Egg Box

For my first box I used products from the Occasions catalogue and the Sale-a-bration catalogue.

I simply cut some pieces of the gorgeous Springtime Foils specialty DSP and adhered them to four sides of the gable box using double sided tape and attached two matching silver Petal Passion embellishments using Silver Bakers Twine and Whisper White organza ribbon.

So quick and easy…but incredibly effective with that stunning foil DSP.

Box 2: Sweet Soiree Easter Egg Box

For my second box I inserted a window panel into the front of the box so you can see the eggs inside. This was super easy to do.

I carefully opened the side seam of the box then ran one side through my big shot and cut an oval window using one of the oval stitched shape framelit dies.

The clear window pane was created by using the next largest oval stitched shape framelit die to cut out a piece of window sheet, which attached with glue and double sided tape.

After resealing the box (using double sided tape) and filling the box with my speckled eggs I used some of the pieces from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit to decorate my box and tied a bow to the top with Berry Burst metallic-edge ribbon.

Box 3: Moon Baby Bunny Easter Egg Box

The third box is my favourite because it is just so much fun. I used the grass die from the Picnic Basket Builder framelits dies to cut Lemon Lime Twist card stock and attached this to the bottom of the box… it is the perfect length for the longer side of the box. For the two shorter ends I simply cut down one piece to size.

The darling little bunny is stamped using one of the Moon Baby stamps and then fussy cut…but can you guess what I used to make the various sized eggs?

The largest egg is punched using the ballon builder punch (use scissors to trim off the base of the balloon and you have an egg shape).

The medium egg is punched using the leaf punch (you trim the 3 ‘eggs’ from the leaf), and the smallest egg is cut from the top of the wooden spoon shape in the Apron Builder framelits.

I love the glittery effect the Myths and Magic Glimmer paper gives to my little eggs hiding in the grass!

Apron Builder Easter Egg Card

And finally, I just couldn’t resist making this super easy card using another die from the Apron Builder Framelits…it’s a little cracked egg.

Although my stamping isn’t perfect on this one, this fun and easy card uses the Labeller Alphabet Stamp set to stamp the sentiment, with the colourful striped Birthday Memories DSP as the background piece.

Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the very talented, Kathryn Mangelsdorf.

Sale-a-bration is also a great time to join our fabulous team. Ask any of the girls on the hop!

As soon as I saw the 3 new free Sale-a-bration products, I knew I had to order the Eclectic Expressions stamps set because it’s such a versatile set, just perfect for masculine cards.
There are 9 stamps in this set and it reminds me a lot of the very popular ‘gorgeous grunge’ set. Here’s a close-up of the stamp set so you can see exactly what you get…all for free!!!!!
I was so inspired by the cards in the Sale-a-bration brochure I decided to create a set of 6 cards in soft masculine colours…cards that could be suitable for both men and women.
I used Pool Party, Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and Marina Mist, all stamped onto Whisper White card stock and mounted onto Whisper White cards and envelopes, which makes creating sets of cards super quick and easy.
Card 1 (below) features the ‘barcode stamp’ and the happy birthday stamp, which I cut in half.
Don’t be scared to cut your stamps in half…it makes sentiments so much more versatile and it’s still really easy to put the sentiment back together. I actually stamped the happy birthday sentiment on this card after I had cut the happy and the birthday apart, and the 2 pieces of the stamp still stamped perfectly together.
Card 2 uses the large circle stamp, overlaid with vellum.
The word ‘celebrate’ was die cut using the free Sale-a-bration Celebrate You Dies, which will be carried over to the new annual 2018-2019 catalogue.
Card 3 uses the larger ‘cloud’ stamp and the ‘Thank You’ stamp, which I stamped onto vellum and then die cut with the stitched shape framelits, mounted onto Crumb Cake card stock.
Card 4 is another thank you card, this time using the smaller ‘cloud’ stamp, the ‘thank you’ stamp, a vellum overlay and some of the gorgeous Pool Party washi tape from the Basics Pack 3.
Card 5 is the reason why I cut the ‘happy birthday’ stamp in half, and I think the button from the new True Gentleman Buttons (tied with tiny bit of linen thread) really finished of this card nicely, while still keeping it masculine enough to send to a man.
Card 6 uses the rest of the stamps in the Eclectic Expressions set (and yes, I did ink up every single stamp!) as well as that lovely Pool Party Washi tape.
Embellishments include the Pool Party sequins from the new ‘Tutti-frutti Adhesive-backed Sequins’ and White Perfect Accents.
Finally, to make this set of cards a lovely gift, I popped then into a C6 Acetate Box, and wrapped the box up with the Bermuda Bay ribbon (another free Sale-a-bration product, part of the ‘Shimmer Ribbon Pack’) tied together with some linen thread.
Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the very talented, Caroline Manwarring.

Celebrate the New Year With Free Stamps!

Celebrate the New Year With Free Stamps!

Is there any better way to start the new year than with free craft stuff?

Well, more time to craft is a personal new year’s resolution for me, but while I’m working on finding that extra time in my week, I’ll happily settle for free craft stuff!

Once a year, when Stampin’ Up! releases their Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration Catalogue, for every $90 you spend on product (and it can be anything, from any catalogue or even the clearance rack!) you can chose a free product from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue.

If you’d like to take a look at either catalogue you can view or download the PDFs by clicking on the images below.

And if you’d like to purchase any of these products you can do so by visiting the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration Catalogue sections of my online store.

Want even more free stuff? Don’t forget to watch for another release of new Sale-a-bration items coming 16 February.

Over the next few weeks I’ll share with you some of the things I’ve made with exciting new products from both of these catalogues, but until then, happy crafting!
