Welcome to week eighteen of our Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop!
This week we’re featuring Coastal Cabana, a beautiful aqua colour from the Brights Family.
As it is Father’s Day this Sunday I’ve made a Father’s Day card for my husband. You’ll see the Father’s Day card I’ve made for my dad in next week’s Art With Heart 2024-25 Colour Creations blog hop.
I found the instructions for this pop up fancy fold card on Youtube. The papercrafter who designed this fancy fold is called Ann Melvin and she has wonderfully clear and easy to follow instructions on her Positively Papercraft Youtube channel. Although Ann calls this type of fancy fold a “Nappy fold card” I prefer to call it a hexagonal pop-up platform card!
This card folds flat to pop into an envelope and the pop up element is created without any dies, which is great!
I’ve chopped up one of the card bases from the Boho Beach Kit to decorate the outside hexagon band. This Lost Lagoon pattern looks just like the froth and bubble of the ocean and coordinates beautifully with Coastal Cabana!
Inspired by the Boho Beach Kit, my colour combination is Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, Early Espresso, Pecan Pie and Basic White.
It was a no-brainer to use the Beach Days bundle to make a card for my surfer mad husband, however this pop-up fancy fold card base can be used to create any kind of scene.
The “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment is from the Gone Fishing stamp set, die cut using the smallest rectangle in the Nested Essentials dies. The DSP used to create the surfboards is from the Brights 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper.
A trio of brown Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins completes the front of the card.
Now it’s time to hop in over to our next participant, the lovely Amie McIllroy – I can’t wait to see what Amie has made this week!
If at any time you find a broken link, you can find the complete list of all participants below.
Catherine Proctor – you are here!
The AWH Colour Creations team will be back next Wednesday 4th September, showcasing Copper Clay or you can join us on Monday night for some more Christmas inspiration.
I hope you can join us then!
Nappy fold? I much prefer your hexagonal pop-up platform card name! Pete is sure going to love this one and I can see it displayed for sure. Everything about this is amazing, the DSP is perfect for the frothy ocean all the stamped images are perfectly displayed. Awesome job!
Cathy your Father’s Day card for your husband is perfect for the mad surfer and I have to say I think your name for the fold is a lot more appropriate rather than a nappy fold! You’ve also chosen the perfect stamp set to showcase Coastal Cabana.
What a fantastic fold Cathy, it has been a while since I have made one of these but I Love your surf hut scene and the dimension you have. I am sure your Hubby is going to love it! This the colour combinations is perfect too! I love your “froth and bubble” around the base of your card! Love your card!
Oh wow Cathy. Your hexagon pop up platform card is awesome and I am sure your husband will be delighted with it. I adore the scene you have created and to think it folds into an envelope. So clever. xxx
Absolutely love this card, Cathy. Such a great fun fold and perfect for your beach scene.
A perfect card for your surfing hubby Cathy. I made this style of card with cows for my grandson, and it was a challenge, but he loved it. Hope your version is a hit too!
What a great fun fold card! And I love that stamp set. You’ve decorated the card just beautifully!
How good is Coastal Cabana for a beach-themed card?! This is pretty darn fabulous, Cath. Great fun fold, and beautifully decorated.
