No peeking… this Christmas card has a little surprise in the bag!
Welcome to Week 9 of the Art with Heart team’s Heart of Christmas blog hop. This week, I’ve made a Pop-Up Gift Bag Card, complete with ribbon handles and red tissue paper for a miniature version of a Christmas gift bag.
My card was also made for Day 2 of the “30 Days of Christmas” cardmaking challenge: “No Peeking”, which invites us to create a card inspired by Christmas surprises. A gift bag hidden inside a card seemed the perfect way to capture that excitement!

The front gives very little away. A panel of holly-patterned paper sits against the green card base, with dashed lines running down either side. I’ve echoed the paper’s design with die-cut holly leaves and red berries, framing the gold heat embossed “Merry Christmas to you and yours” sentiment.
I love the stitched detail on the holly leaves and sentiment label. These little touches add texture while allowing the patterned paper to shine.
All of the products in this card come from the “A Stitched Season” suite.

The real fun begins when you open the card!
Inside, a red patterned paper gift bag pops up along the centre fold. Shimmery ribbon handles and a flourish of red tissue paper make it look just like a tiny Christmas shopping bag.
Alongside the bag, a white panel provides space for a handwritten Christmas message. Small foliage motifs decorate the corners, while die-cut holly leaves and berries frame the greeting, “Sending warm wishes this Christmas.”
This video shows the surprise reveal inside!
