CASEing the Catty – Shaded Spruce and Silver Christmas Card

CASEing the Catty – Shaded Spruce and Silver Christmas Card

I’ve been following the beautiful creations of the CASEing the Catty team for a while and I decided to finally join in this week for the CTC380 challenge, which is CASEing the cover of the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue.

There are so many beautiful cards on this cover but in the end I decided to CASE the “Seasons Greetings” card which is on the top left of the cover. I just love that little deer standing proud in amongst the trees.

I don’t have the “In the Pines” bundle yet so I used the Winter Woods and the Rooted in Nature stamp sets (with their matching dies) and the snow globe dies instead.

Slimline cards are all the rage ATM which is why I made my scene horizontal rather than the original vertical. I also switched out the gold for silver, which I personally prefer with Shaded Spruce.

These gorgeous new ribbons are both from the the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue. The Shaded Spruce Argyle Satin ribbon comes in the “Wonder of the Season” Ribbon Combo pack and I’ve layered it on top of the Silver Metallic Mesh Ribbon.

My deer is die cut from silver foil using the Snow Globe Scenes dies.

And the “Season’s Greetings” sentiment is from the coordinating Still Scenes stamp set.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase: Week 10 Cinnamon Cider

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase: Week 10 Cinnamon Cider

Welcome to week ten of our 2020-2021 Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase.

Each week various members of our Art With Heart Colour Creations team will be bringing you weekly colour inspiration as we showcase our range of over 50 beautiful Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 10 – Cinnamon Cider

Cinnamon Cider is a 2020-22 In Color and one of the exciting new products available in this colour is a velveteen paper. You’ll find the velveteen paper pack is on page 153 of the 2020 Annual Catalogue and this soft flocked paper comes in Cinnamon Cider, Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam.

I thought this soft velvety paper would be ideal for bringing the rabbit from the Nature’s Beauty stamp set to life, so my cards this week feature this darling little rabbit.

How adorable is does he look stamped with Memento Ink onto the Cinnamon Cider velveteen paper? I die cut the image using a circle die and mounted it onto a scalloped circle of Basic Black die cut using the larger scalloped circle die from the layering circle dies.

It’s really hard to show the soft texture of this velveteen paper and the effect of the subtle embossing on the Whisper White card stock but this close up gives you a clearer view. I just can’t stop stroking this tiny little Cinnamon Cider bunny. His fluffy white tail was coloured with the Chalk Marker.

For card two my bunny rabbit has moved to the woods. I’ve stamped him onto Whisper White card stock, coloured him in with my Cinnamon Cider blends and created a landscape using my Basic Black marker to extend the lines in the stamps.

The background Woodland embossing folder really pairs well with the Nature’s Beauty stamps.

Card three continues the woodland theme, this time with a background stamped using the tree trunk stamp from the Winter Wood stamp set. I stamped my tree trunk stamp in Cinnamon Cider ink onto Cinnamon Cider card stock before using my Chalk Marker to add White.

I love how the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder echos the snow I added to the trees. You get two embossing folders in this pack and you’ll find them on page 9 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue.

The white dot on top of my linen thread bow is another new product from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue – the All the Trimmings Embellishments on page 25.

All three cards have the same sentiment “Thinking of You” which I created using the marker technique.

The sentiment in the Winter Woods set actually says “Thinking of You This Season” but by using my Cinnamon Cider marker to just colour in the “thinking of you” section of the stamp I was able to create a more versatile and year round sentiment for my cards.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Art With Heart team have created with Cinnamon Cider today. Click on the links below to see what they’ve made.

Next Tuesday we’ll be showcasing one of the Brights: Coastal Cabana. We hope you can join us all then.

All Dressed Up 21st Birthday Card

All Dressed Up 21st Birthday Card

July is a big birthday month in our family – my dad, brother, 2 nieces and 2 nephews all have their birthdays in July! One of the big birthdays last month was my niece’s 21st and because I wasn’t able to see her in person I made a special card to celebrate her special birthday.

She is super sporty but also very girly. Like most 21 year old girls she loves clothes and shoes, which is why I thought the Dressed To Impressed stamp set would be the perfect set to use for her card.

The co-ordinating All Dressed Up dies were also just perfect because we gave her a gift card for her birthday and this die set has a die to create a little bag which is big enough to fit a gift card.

I haven’t used the brand new hot pink, Magenta Madness, very much yet but I love it in this card. The shoes are coloured in using a Bumblebee marker and Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight blends before cutting out with the co-ordinating shoe die.

The shoe boxes are easy to make using scraps of crumb cake cut down to size with the Stampin’ Up! paper trimmer.

This gorgeous floral paper is from the Flowers for Every Season 6×6 DSP pack and I also used it to make the gift card mini bag holder. There is a die for the bag handle and cut this out of Magenta Madness to match the card – can you see the cute stitched edging on the bag and the handle?

And how great is the “Life is Short. Buy the shoes” sentiment? I’m sure my niece will be using our gift card to buy some shoes very soon!

I’ll be back to share some colour inspiration on Wednesday but in the meantime to purchase any of the products featured in today’s post, simply click on the product links below.

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase: Week 9 Cherry Cobber

Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase: Week 9 Cherry Cobber

Welcome to week nine of our 2020-2021 Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase. This week we are bringing you some Cherry Cobbler colour inspiration.

Each week various members of our Art With Heart Colour Creations team will be bringing you weekly colour inspiration as we showcase our range of over 50 beautiful Stampin’ Up! colours in alphabetical order.

Week 9 – Cherry Cobbler

Cherry Cobbler is a deep rich red colour that always makes me think of Christmas and there are plenty of lovely new Cherry Cobbler products in the August-December catalogue (AKA the holiday catalogue), available to purchase from August 4, which is just next week.

Today I’ve used a stamp set that is part of a punch bundle called Christmas Gleaming. You might already have because it was in last year’s holiday catalogue and it is returning this year.

My “Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly” card doesn’t use the Gleaming Ornaments punch pack – instead I’ve just used the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and simply fussy cut my holly leaves, which was super easy to do using my paper snips.

The holly leaves were stamped with Memento ink onto Whisper White card stock and then coloured them in with light and dark Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow blends. I like the contrast between the lighter and the darker leaves.

The Whisper White panel has been embossed with one of the new “Wrapped in Texture” embossing folders – these raised dots reminded me of the holly berries and I think they work well with the holly sprigs. The sentiment was die cut using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

The Wink of Stella pen adds some sparkle and shine to the holly berries. I also heat embossed my sentiment with clear emboss power after I stamped it firstly in Versamark and then in Cherry Cobbler. This is a great technique to remember if you want to emboss in any colour.

Can you see the sparkle and shine? It’s so pretty in real life.

It’s super easy to make your own Cherry Cobbler ribbon and Cherry Cobbler rhinestone jewel. Simply use your dark Cherry Cobbler blend to colour in the Whisper White crinkled seam binding ribbon and the large rhinestone basic jewel and wait a few minutes for the colour to set before adhering to your card.

Hopefully this super close up gives you a better view of my home made Cherry Cobbler ribbon and Cherry Cobbler rhinestone jewel.

I’ll share some other cards I’ve made with this bundle (using the punches as well) later this week.

In the meantime I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Art With Heart team have created with Cherry Cobbler today. Click on the links below to see what they’ve made.

Next Tuesday we’ll be showcasing one of the 2020-22 In Colours: Cinnamon Cider. We hope you can join us all then.

Birds & Branches Birthday Card

Birds & Branches Birthday Card

A few weeks ago I shared some cards I made with this gorgeous Stampin’ Up! Birds & Branches Bundle. I have to admit I’m slightly obsessed with these sweet little birds!

Today I’m sharing a couple more cards made with the Birds & Branches Bundle – this first one has a touch of Misty Moonlight and features some cute little paper flowers from the Boho Indigo product medley.

I love the touch of Misty Moonlight blue on the tummies of the birds, but seriously, how cute are these paper flowers from the Boho Indigo product medley?

They come in two sizes with the little brown wooden button already in the centre of the flower – but you don’t have to buy the entire medley to get the flowers as they also come in the Boho Medley refill.

I cut my branch from one of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper DSP sheets and the “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom bundle.

Card two just uses the Birds and More dies, this time with the In Good Taste DSP as the background layer behind the birds. Doesn’t this wood grain paper look so realistic!

I die cut my birds out of Crumb Cake card stock and finished off the card with a double bow of linen thread.

In case you missed my post four weeks ago, this was the birdhouse card I made also using the Birds & Branches Bundle and the stitched triangle dies. You can see more photos of this card and how I made it here.

These are the stitched triangle dies and Birds and More Dies I used to make my birdhouse card.

The soft pink is Blushing Bride and I used my water painter to add a touch of it to their tummies.
